Can think of Southern League keepers better than JVS. I can think of better keepers down my local.

I watched the replay of that freekick a few times & I still think JVS is going to put his hand up & tip the ball over the bar, even allowing for terrible weather conditions he’s got to be embarrassed about it.

Interestingly Anssi must be regarded as the third choice by Finland. Two different keepers have started in the two games in this break.

He was awful but so was the whole defence. Individually they are seem ok but for that second goal, I’ve seen better defending in the Dorset County League. Down to the training I’m afraid hence what we’re all talking about today! UTG! I have never seen a team have so many defenders in a 6 yard box but leave the rest of the penalty box wide open. In a previous match we had 9 defenders in the box and the other team scored from the aftermath of a set piece. How can any team end up with so many defenders in the 6 yard box, unless it is an indirect free kick within the penalty box, and still concede a goal that is kicked in on the ground? It indicates that there is no management or control of the defensive duties. The captain should be reinforcing this? In past seasons, Rovers always left a big hole outside the penalty box, when defending or attacking and would get punished quite frequently from the aftermath of a set piece with the other team picking up the ball. Under BG this season, this hole has moved to the space between the 6 yard box and the penalty box when we defend. Do the management not watch how we defend when reviewing performance? How many goals have we conceded from silly and stupid mistakes? Yesterday went like this; Goal 1 - terrible goalie error. Goal 2 - ball not cleared led to free kick (we should have have had one before) led to corner led to goal. Goal 3 - Grant not clearing ball and being clever loses ball and goal. Goal 4 - stupid defending, stupid penalty. I would probably say anything between 60 - 90 % of league goals conceded this season have been mistakes by us. Our defensive trio are not as good as they think they are on the ball. Especially Baldwin. Ehmer made mistakes in the early games but does not dither too much now on the ball. Any new manager will probably start with a solid back 4 from now on. One of the reasons many people liked Craig was that we knew he would not mess around with the ball in defence. Get rid. Mistakes happened but they are to be expected? The whole formation and team (defence and middle) needs a drastic and complete overhaul in my opinion. UTG

Two different keepers have started in the two games in this break. their first choice plays in the bundesliga week in week out and the other keeper that started plays in the 2nd division in Italy which is slightly above league one standard I’d argue. yes he’s good but their first choice keeper especially is a top top keeper.

Unfortunately every time JVS has played he seems to have a stinker. Not good enough for this level but it must be hard to find a decent GK willing to sit on the league one bench all season! Go and pluck a good one from non-league who wants to make a name for themselves and would improve with full time coaching. I havent been impressed with JVS, but isnt that essentially what we have done with him? He is 24 and essentially played non league football in the dutch 2nd division

This is what frustrates me most about losing Anssi to internation games. He has next to no chance of playing, yet we are losing arguably our most important player for possibly 2 or 3 games

I wonder if Anssi had played and we had only lost 2-1 to Fleetwood whether BG would still be in a job....? The interesting thing about JvS is that if BG thought he was good enough to act as understudy to AJ then why did he bring in a different keeper on loan when AJ was injured early this year? If he doesn't really rate him; then why was willing to start him when AJ goes away on international duty (which we have to assume will happen every time Finland play). A challenge for the new manager; either find a dependable understudy or start loading the squad with Internationals so we can get our games postponed when there is an international break
