My Goodness I hope he is back for Saturday....
In January we need to find a decent back up keeper.
Von Schitten Shotten is woeful... Best Dodgeball player I have seen in ages.
How many more games will Anssi miss this season I wonder?

I often think that having a better keeper behind them gives the defence more confidence to protect him and his goal. Certainly Jaakkola is a lot more communicative with his defence than JVS is.
So yes, having Jaakkola back for the Swindon game will be a big boost for us but there are plenty of other things in our performance today that we need to improve on if we want to get a result, including our defending when the opposition have the ball inside our box. Jaakkola is a quality keeper but he’s not Superman.

JVS was absolutely shocking today, would personally call back Alexis Andre Jr to be our back-up option and send JVS out instead.

That was the reason why we signed Jamal Blackman on loan last season JVS is not up 2 scratch

Can think of Southern League keepers better than JVS.

Didnt JVS only have 3 shots to stop all second half? 2 of which went in the net! Such a poor stand in keeper for this level of the game and yes bring back Junior hes more than ready now surely? Think hes been with us for something like 4 years already?

Is Jaakkola so good that it has masked our defensive frailties?

Is Jaakkola so good that it has masked our defensive frailties? I believe so.

Unfortunately every time JVS has played he seems to have a stinker. Not good enough for this level but it must be hard to find a decent GK willing to sit on the league one bench all season!

Is Jaakkola so good that it has masked our defensive frailties? I don't think you can underestimate not only his goalkeeping ability but also his presence and command of his area. The defense seem to gel better when he's in goal and also seem to get caught out of position far less.

Jaakkola is a very good shotstopper but for me he should command his area much better than he does - i.e. claiming or punching away high crosses/corners.

That was the reason why we signed Jamal Blackman on loan last season JVS is not up 2 scratch But we only signed him because Jakkola was injured. You are not going to have decent back up keepers at this level. Whenever a first team keeper gets injured, almost every club gets a loan player in for cover. Of course its a little different for us having a keeper who is always going to miss maybe up to ten games a season and he is so much better than what we have been used to over the years! In my opinion, he would have saved those three goals yesterday.

Go and pluck a good one from non-league who wants to make a name for themselves and would improve with full time coaching.

He was awful but so was the whole defence. Individually they are seem ok but for that second goal, I’ve seen better defending in the Dorset County League. Down to the training I’m afraid hence what we’re all talking about today! UTG!

Heavy wind and rain or not, that free kick straight at him should of been stopped, no excuses.

Mark, you’re right, he doesn’t command his area. He rarely gets involved in claiming high crosses when there are lots of bodies there. He tried it in his first match at Blackpool last year and gave away a goal so I guess it’s a percentage thing. He knows he may not get the ball and that makes him vulnerable so he stays put. His best work for us is as a shot stopper on, or near his line in the six yard box. I don’t think he’s great one on one either. But as endicotton says he’s far better than JVS and he does make me nervous. UTG!

Heavy wind and rain or not, that free kick straight at him should of been stopped, no excuses. Definitely a bad goalkeeper error . But the second goal was worse in that their scorer had all the time in the world to bring it down and turn and shoot whilst none of our players looked interested in closing down. Hopefully our new manager will bring in his own defensive coach and it will improve us because we look a complete shambles in defence this season. If it wasn’t for Anssi and we only had an average league 1 standard keeper we’d probably be bottom of the league now, certainly bottom 4.
