One of my favourite players (obvs) but I've never understood why people are so convinced he'd make a good manager. Not saying that he wouldn't, but we seem to give too much stature to decent ex-players. Mansell seems to be the new Tilson these days.

What are we thinking gasheads? Both live in bath, both are west country men and love the area, Andy LOVES the club, tis speaks highly of the club and its plan, both worked with lots of youth at uni with team bath, tisdale will want to play on the deck, tillson a great chap to sort our cb's out as he was before his time and often passed out from the back or drove forward but was also solid at the back etc.. lots of potential with TW feeding them players imo. I also think gasheads would back them and players would respect them. Id go for them myself.

Just waiting for Steve Cotterill to be linked with it like he always is. I’d take Johnson over that nauseating man. His record isn’t great and reminds me of GC with his abrasive attitude. Anyway there must be better candidates out there, perhaps pick someone who has played the game properly before.

For me its always important to bring new coaches/manager through into the system, but you also need someone who understands the club that the fans can get behind. Its essentially the equivalent of bringing through your own youth players, IMO. I'd much rather have success with someone like Mansell (in future) than the standard merry-go-round of managers.

Two obvious choices are Chris Hargreaves or Flynn at Newport. The problem with regard to Flynn, is that next season both us and them may have swapped divisions. Whether we like it or not, we are stuck with the players we have, and that's before wondering how much compensation we would have to pay Newport to get him, I do wonder though as to what thought process was behind the appointment of Garner. It was obvious after last season ended that he wasn't up to the job. Then people say it wasn't his team. Well, that team got up to third in the table, and a bloody good job it did, or he would have relegated us then. Then, to compound it, he is allowed to blow our budget this season when he had already shown he had no idea. I see Cotterill has been mentioned. That really would prove the lunatics are running the asylum. Whatever happens, please don't involve Chelsea. We are stuck with the players we’ve got? I’d argue very strongly that the squad right now has the most promise it’s had for years. Just realised that your the one that hates wael, hence all the little swipes and digs at him throughout this post, cheers for waisting a few minutes of my life with your post.

Me too - in an ideal world.

pirate - who do you want? Just so we can rule him out TROLLololol. Funny. I would have gone for Nigel Clough while he was available, but obviously that isn't an option now. Paul Cook would be my first choice, but optimistic and unlikely. Also like John Coleman, Michael Duff, Michael Flynn and John Eustace.

I'd take Likkle Lee to be honest. I would prefer his Dad to be appointed. Definitely not.

Paul Cook would be a great appt but doubt he would come.
Of the free agents I would choose:
Paul Cook - record speaks for itself. Danny Cowley - bit of a long ball merchant tho. His sacking at Huddersfield was strange. Sol Campbell - did well at Macclesfield but no managerial medals Graham Alexander - always good for 18 months Keith Hill - good manager at Rochdale - failed everywhere else. Not sure he’s what we would want.
If I had to pick from another club with compensation:
Micheal Duff at Cheltenham would be top of my list.

The Sack Race has Widdrington as very strong 2/1 fav then Daniel Cowley and Nigel Pearson at 8s, Tisdsle 10/1, Paul Cook 12s and Heckingbottom 14/1.

She’s been successful, would you support her as manager? No - personally post BG I think we need league one experience and a period of stability not another experiment. There are plenty would like her to be running the FA which in itself would be a bold step, just wondered if anyone would want their own club to be that bold and forward thinking?

Would love it if we could tempt John Coleman from Accrington. His teams always play good football and hes consistently developing youth on a shoestring. Him or Cook for me.
