Be careful what you wish for with Paul Tisdale... How come?

The Sack Race has Widdrington as very strong 2/1 fav then Daniel Cowley and Nigel Pearson at 8s, Tisdsle 10/1, Paul Cook 12s and Heckingbottom 14/1. The Widdrington odds will surely just reflect that he’s Caretaker rather than any genuine knowledge as he’s indicated on numerous occasions he doesn’t want manager jobs and has built himself a nice career in recruitment.

Oh definitely yes, ticks all the boxes regarding what Wael wants and did amazing job at Bournemouth but I doubt he'd look at us and apart from a not brilliant stint at Burnley he is very much a one club guy

She’s been successful, would you support her as manager? No - personally post BG I think we need league one experience and a period of stability not another experiment. There are plenty would like her to be running the FA which in itself would be a bold step, just wondered if anyone would want their own club to be that bold and forward thinking? So never a serious suggestion then, if so why suggest her? If so why bring her into the debate, I could say Paolo Di Canio but we all know that isn’t serious.

Someone mentioned Nigel Pearson. He lives in Devon so we’re almost his local club. Can’t quite seeing him being interested, same goes for Eddie Howe. But stranger things have happened.

Paul Cook - 2nd favourite at 7/1 with Sky. My favourite on their list so far is champions league winner Roberto Di Matteo on there at 20/1 😂

Paul Cook would be a great appt but doubt he would come. Of the free agents I would choose: Paul Cook - record speaks for itself. Danny Cowley - bit of a long ball merchant tho. His sacking at Huddersfield was strange. Sol Campbell - did well at Macclesfield but no managerial medals Graham Alexander - always good for 18 months Keith Hill - good manager at Rochdale - failed everywhere else. Not sure he’s what we would want. If I had to pick from another club with compensation: Micheal Duff at Cheltenham would be top of my list. Re Sol Campbell why not mention he was a complete flop last season at Southend? Duff's contracted to the summer of 2023 so that's going to cost us in compo and there's no real proof he can manager at this level.

What about someone whom might be interested in a different role?
DC?
Dominic Cummings?!

Wael is building a club philosophy of having young players and improving them to earn cash and build good teams. The new manager will have to buy into that and wont be able to sign lots of experienced high earning players.
However a fair few managers this season have commented on how they expect rovers to be up there this season based on the squad of players they have. So it's a job plenty will want. Let's face it without being disrespectful to BG the new man wont have to win many matches before April fools to improve on Ben's record.

Tisdale is the only name mentioned that has proven experience doing exactly what we are trying to do - so my money would be on him. If we were seriously going for promotion then maybe we'd push the boat out for Cook. Unfortunately I don't think we're there yet! I think we have to consider the circumstances of the appointment of Ben and his departure. He was brought it to instil a progressive football philosophy from top to bottom. I think off the pitch that has been much more successful than the on field results. We can all speculate about lower league success stories like Paul Cook but do they fit the mould for both on an off the field development? Tisdale has done that at Exeter so would be a contender. I think the cowleys may be more of a shout after the success at Lincoln and keeping a dysfunctional Huddersfield in the championship. They seem to be ideal for a project like the Gas.

Do wonder whether the club already have their number 1 target in mind.
If you go back to when GC did that post much interview after Ipswich Nathan Jones was contacted on the Sunday where he rejected the offer/talks.
There was contact from Mansfield in the week leading up to the Ipswich game so at that point they must have started drawing up a list.
Todays news wouldn’t have been done right after the game, no way on earth the whistle went and then it entered their minds to get rid of BG,
Just depends in they want to wait and see who applies or or they have prepared for tonights news and have a number one target in mind and go for him or if contact has already been made.

It's currently the only sustainable model for the club most likely. There is already a few who have played a bit Upson,Rodman,Jakkola ,ehmer ,oztumer ,nicholson are all experienced players. I suspect he is hoping today's raw players become the future experienced ones (?)
