It's a model that works well at Southampton. The Director of Football is a constant, first team coaches come and go but with the remit of buying into the club's vision rather than setting it

What an interesting, informative , and humorous letter, Wael def one of us and good to see that he seems to have a peek at this forum, thank goodness he has had many plaudits on here in recent months! good that we have someone who is REALLY ITK on board! first one to guess his forum name?! Wael also enforces the view expressed by a few of us on here that BG did an awful lot of good work behind the scenes for the club, you can't help but be confident about the future when we have Wael in charge, up the Rovers!

Good move for Tommy, he has clearly identified some very promising players.

It's a model that works well at Southampton. The Director of Football is a constant, first team coaches come and go but with the remit of buying into the club's vision rather than setting it Southampton are a good role model for us, they were in our league not so many years ago, have consistently developed players , lost there best players on a regular basis by selling for big money without performances being affected, and bounced back from set backs (like the 9 v Leicester)to top the premier this season, all we are missing is that elusive stadium!

"We know that there has been much discussion within the supporter base on possible options to come in" ....on here!! Hi Wael, thanks for the letter! Maybe they read my post from the start of Oct and thought you know what that GGMI is right, let's make Paul our man!

Thats now Wael and Starnes pushing the 100% Tommy nickname! Makes sense to have him on the board as he is so involved in the football side of things. I doubt the title change will alter his day to day work much. As an aside, I expect Tisdale knew what the set up would be before joining.
From the outside looking in it all seems very harmonious at the top table! Garner's exit all seems very amicable too.
Good stuff Wael. Keep up the good work.

Communication levels have greatly improved over a number of months and it is much appreciated. Thanks Wael and Martyn. Congratulations to Tommy on his 'new' role, but I have said for a while he was the de facto DoF, so I don't see his role changing too much. He will just continue the good work he has been doing in the background. Onwards and upwards. UTG.

Very strange but Wael just went ‘live’ on Facebook ... seemed to have been a case of him accidentally hitting the wrong button. Anyone else see it or am I going mad?!?

More great communication from on top .... well done Wael. Also think Widdrington is a great appointment as director of football , he comes across as very knowledgeable, speaks sense and straight talks .... the way I think Gasheads appreciate. We don’t like being told something different to what our eyes can see.

A bit of a closer relationship between board and management, and maybe more shared responsibility.... UTG

Again, good communication, it’s obviously not that hard when you have the intent to do so. Congrats to Tommy W, he has earnt everyone’s respect and Wael obviously recognise a valuable employee and has promoted him. Good to see, a club working together. What do you reckon Antonio, you keeping up! 😉 UTG!

Great communication. Board is taking shape. Wonder where those who were complaining there were only two on the board have gone? Good to see Wael showing his humourous side. I’m sure some won’t like that though. Great piece of communication from Wael again! Not used to this . . . So now we've got "Yer Tis" as manager and "Ton-up Tommy" as DoF - brilliant!

It make so much difference when communication is forthcoming, Thank you for the update Wael. Football is out there on its own with recruitment especially in management, win your in lose your out! I think anyone taking up a managerial position should be realistic, if you take the job you understand the chance involved, I think BG showed great quality in his statement after the inevitable and as Wael said it was his decision to bring him to the club, so nice to see him put his hands up. I really hope PT pulls it off as I think Wael and the board deserve a break and some success, and of course that's what we all want, it would be nice to have something to show for the new way of thinking from our club officials.
