When GC left I was told by someone then at the club that he had gone to the board a couple of weeks and said that his players were knackered and come January there 2 players that he wanted to bring in. The board said there is no money for transfers. Also BG had been at the Mem a few times since October, and he had applied for the job when DC was sacked. GC then publicly said he didn't know how far that team could have gone (at Ipswich) He decided to leave because he was not getting any support from the Board. They appoint BG who promptly makes a number of signings. It was also said to me that the team were very unhappy with GC leaving, and they felt let down too, as they had worked their nuts offf. Sorry I cannot reveal the name because he still has some dealings with the club. He is the one who said they had bought a chunk of land just off the ring road. By all means could believe the Coughlan story but sorry don’t believe for a second the ring road story, it destroys credibility of this post altogether. If we’d have bought land, why wouldn’t it have been sang off the rooftops and planing permission applied for? Why would the post still be insisting we’re working on the fruit market deal?

Whatever the true story, GC leaving was just about the oddest thing I can remember happening to Rovers in my 53 long years of support. Appointing Martin Dobson to replace Gerry Francis was odd, but the GC departure takes the prize. Had he gone to a “sleeping giant” close to home, but in a lower league, Notts County say, it might have made sense. But Mansfield! I put that down solely to the man himself. Unfortunately we will never probably know the story from the horses mouth because even if he did spill the beans. He's lost so much credibility nobody would care enough to listen.

The hand that holds the pen rules the world That's not a real proverb. You've just strung some words together that you think sound profound but are ultimately completely meaningless.

Yeah what have we done? We sacked one of the worst managers in the history of our club? With an atrocious record? Who assembled one of the most unbalanced, inexperienced, inept squads I've seen as a gashead. How terrible.
What did we do letting him sign 4 left backs? What did we do letting him sell our best striker, release more or less all the rest, and only sign a kid, a player who hasn't played a league game before, and a striker who's renowned for not being a goalscorer and leaving us exposed to injury? What did we do letting him release Tony Craig and letting him replace him with Max Ehmer and Jack Baldwin What did we do letting him force out Abu Ogogo who wore his heart on his sleeve and bled blue blood for us? and Replacing him with Grant who can't be assed to go for a second ball and run back after that second ball? What did we do?
Just because he could get the best out of his sh** squad over 3 fixtures doesn't make him worthy of the managers position or mean the new manager aint any good.

The project. 1. Get rid of as many experienced players as you can as they get paid too much. 2. Get a young inexperienced manager in and allow him free reign with signings. 3. Tell the supporters we are going to change the clubs DNA. Tell them we will play exciting attacking football 4. Sell your best striker. 5. Manager says we dont need a like for like striker and signs 4th choice striker from Gillingham and two unexperienced strikers. 6. Dismantle old team. Especially defence. Bring in Sunderland player who struggled to get in to league 2 teams when out on loan. 7. Send experienced midfielder out on loan after not allowing him to be anywhere near the club, instead play inexperienced players. 8. Manager plays boring football, but points out we had 500 completed passes in our own half. 9. Wael tells Starner to sack manager. 10. Starner recommends ex Exeter manager. "He's like Garner, but experienced" says Starner. 11. Wael believes Starner and orders him to take him on. 12 Starner tells Tisdale you have got the job, but read from this script. 13. Script is read by Tisdale "talented squad" "I like it here" "work to do". "It's not my fault, we have too many games". 14. Starner repeats Change clubs DNA, DNA, DNA. 15. Wael notices this and orders club officials to take him to Hengrove to be re programmed, and to have new batteries fitted. 15. Due to Covid there will be no santas grotto, and as a result the club will lose 0.00001% of their income. Wael very annoyed as that could have paid for Starners reset.
You might guess, I dont like Starner much

He didn't sell our best striker im pretty sure that was down to the board excepting an offer and a player who didn't want to be here. Abu Ogogo is not good enough I don't ever get that argument all the stats tell you he was declining as a player. The players who got released were on contracts that we could no longer afford but we should have kept them so we could end up losing more money. I'm glad you are not running the club as we would be wound up in no time at all.The club had a strategy of bringing in younger players which alot agreed with the view to selling the better ones on so we could be self sufficient nothing has changed. I agree some of the signings were head scratching but the board sanctioned them all so it's not all BGs fault others have to take some blame for the recruitment. 3 strikers was a mistake but as the system we were playing only had one up front I can see why he choose to go that way. I believe the board jumped to quickly and now we are going to see exactly the same as what happened last season when our manager decided to quit.

Oh I can agree with that, I can accept JCH was a gonner, just the players he bought in were clearly not the right replacements. Why wasn't he knocking on the door of the board asking to get a striker in instead of signing another central midfielder? Another left back? It was clear as much his strategy was going to get us in trouble. Many on here were questioning it at the time. The board aren't blameless, in fact their part in allowing him to get away with all of this is unforgivable.
