I was at the Watney Cup Final. A really good day. I watched it from the north enclosure, can’t remember why as I always preferred behind the goal. On the pitch afterwards. A repeat 7-6 victory on pens will suit me. Likewise for me, also in the North enclosure but can't think why. Maybe the tote end was full? Me too.

Maybe limited crowd for it by January, only those that attended the watney cup final, anyone else still alive? Yep I was there I was there. The precursor to an amazing season with the 8-2 thrashing of Cloughies Brighton team as a highlight. I don’t think theBBC will bother broadcasting a routine 3 or 4 nil win by a run of the mill Prem side who’s game is broadcast every week and a lower end L1 side. Thats the FA cup over for another year.

Good to know a few of us on here were at the Watney Cup Final. It’s the 50th anniversary in 2022. Hope the club marks the occasion. Maybe a t-shirt or book or whatever. I’d buy something. And yes I’m being serious.

Maybe limited crowd for it by January, only those that attended the watney cup final, anyone else still alive? Absolutely- and I was there Yep, me too; 9 years old and it was my first ever Rovers game. Went with my granddad and his best mate - It was rammed and we had to go in the open end.

I was 12 and was on Sea Scout Camp at Woodhouse Park North Bristol at the time, a few of the older scouts went out and bought alcohol, we sat around the camp fire listening to the game live on the radio, everybody went crazy when we won!, it is my only memory of Woodhouse Park.

Small chance of it making TV I suppose. They do like to show as many premier league teams as possible. I am sure the three all prem ties will be shown. Hasn't every Man Utd FA Cup game been shown live for like the last twenty years?! So that'll be shown. The four non league teams will all be on (they are also all at home)

Had seen us beat Wolves the previous Saturday - couldn't believe that. Then Burnley away midweek - big surprise. Come the Sheffield game, as it wore on a growing feeling we might do something. Happy days indeed.

Should have the same amount of coverage we have against Darlington at least, really.
Can't hope for a much better Prem team though, can you? (in terms of actually winning)
Does make me laugh though that we fancy our chances against Sheffield United, but Darlington - we talk them up pre-game as if they're gods gift and we could easily lose to the talent of NL players.
Oh to be a Rovers fan

Do we still hold the record for being the lowest placed team to beat a top tier team on their patch - Derby 2002 No coverage at the time as news covered it all kicking off at Ninian park

I was never aware of that record to be honest....

Only ever played them once in the FA cup lost 2.1 in the 1st round Back in November 2012 at the mem went 1 up after 5 mins through davie Clarkson , they scored twice in 8 mins in the second half

Interestingly, on BBC sport round up, they listed half a dozen ties, which included us. Probably means nothing though.
