I remember the Rammell one for the dreadful gloom that descended around the ground when Darlington went ahead. I’m sure there was tumbleweed blowing across the pitch, although maybe just a trick of the mind The 02/03 Season? I can remember the dull sense of relief that we’d survived for one more season 😆 Jesus the were tough times Hell of an atmosphere at the final 5 home games or so, when the chips were really down.

Recall Walker scoring against them at our place and in another game Andy Rammell bundled their keeper into the net to keep us up.Andy Colkett think it was -ex Gas. I’m sure there was tumbleweed blowing across the pitch, although maybe just a trick of the mind Not helped by that massive white elephant of a ground with a couple of thousand fans rattling around inside it

£25,500 if we win, £8,500 if we lose. I never realised it’s the last round to pick up cash for the loser? £82,00 grand odd for winners of the third round I’m guessing it’s TV money you want in Rds 2 and 3? I find it strange they don’t carry on awarding a percentage of the money to the losers in every round until fans are allowed back in to grounds. Usually if a small club gets a draw away at say Chelsea or Liverpool in round 3, even though they will probably get knocked out at least financially get a big payday from share of the gate money, but obviously this year it won’t apply. So I would have thought this season carrying on making a payment to losing club each round would had been beneficial.

The prize money has been drastically reduced this season, so not surprising that losers are not going to benefit from the second round onwards.

Darlington. Will that mean we lock horns again with Nicky Hunt? Istr a very fiery match at Mansfield in 2015 when he acted like a ****. Pearce got sent off but I don’t think Hunt did though he might have deserved to. Win 4-3 if I remember correctly. I suppose he’ll be older, slower and more argumentative now. UTG!

Just had a look at the Darlington forum. They have been fundraising to pay for their team to do overnight stays ahead of ties. In the couple of hours or so since the draw they have raised over 2k and funded the overnight stay against us. You simply have to applaud that.

Yes it would be beneficial but I guess any money given to losers, or winners for that matter, is generated by the 33.33% of gate money that goes to the FA from every match played. Perhaps there should be less for winners and some for losers but I expect that would cause an equal amount of division. At the moment it’s 33.33% of bu**** all. I guess at the moment until any deal is agreed with the PL / EFL / FA is agreed every club will be engaged in a hand to mouth existence for survival and any income will be welcome. UTG!

Oh and they all think it’s a sh1te draw 😃 To be fair, if we drew a mid-table League 1 club away, we'd think it was a sh**e draw, too.

Real potential banana skin game. Got 5 or 6 players good enough for a higher level IMHO. Only have to see how they beat Swindon. Not to be taken lightly.

Hunt went off as did Jermaine Easter.Manse stood up to Hunt's off the ball antics in real Captain's style.Great to see us wear the Quarters away that day-white shorts too,soo much smarter. Snakey score a late headed winner. James Clarke lovely cross.Delirium ensued. Last minute Gosling went on an amazing dribble. Remember when one of their goals went in our on loan keeper dived about five minutes after the ball hit the back of the net.Great day though.

Just watched Oxford City beat Northampton Town 2-1 in the game after the draw. Played on an artificial surface, Pablo Martinez our Welsh centre back made a sub appearance for Oxford City and looked bright. Joe Martin, former Rovers loanee who got sent off this season against us, gave away a penalty.
Northampton very poor, on the basis of the two times I've seen them this season, they'll struggle to stay in league one.

If my memory serves me correctly Staffs, Lee Nichols was the loan keeper.

A cup game and he wasn't even on the bench. Shame, he deserves better than that.

I like their strikers Adam Campbell and Luke Charman.
Campbell was very highly-rated as a youngster at Newcastle and won England youth caps. He was awarded Premier Player of the Tournament at the 2012 Milk Cup and won the Most Valuable Player award at the 2010 Nike Cup at Old Trafford, an award which has previously been won by the likes of Carlos Tevez, Andreas Iniesta and Fernando Torres. At the time was also the youngest player to play for Newcastle in European competitions. A player with a low centre of gravity, decent pace and good finishing ability.
Charman is strong, decent hold up play, has two good feet, is decent in the air and can finish. Before joining Darlo he scored 30 goals in 81 games for the Newcastle U23 side and with his ability I can eventually see him playing in the Football League.

Wayne Carlisle scored with a curling free kick. I think the Wayne Carlisle free kick was against Carlisle to keep us up. I remember the headline Carlisle 2 - 0 Carlisle. Edit: Just watched it - you're right. The Carlisle result was at the start of the 03/04 season.
