Darlington have released a statement that one of their first team players has tested positive for covid. They have not released the name of the player so unsure if he played Sunday. Their match against Gateshead tonight has been postponed and are taking advice about Saturday's match.
Does this mean that Rovers'players now need to isolate. Not sure about UK rules.

If the player has tested positive actually played on Sunday It would mean we would have to postpone our games whilst the team is tested and isolated over a 14 day period as per the government guidelines.

That's not the case. These guidelines only come into place when a person spends more than 15 minutes within two metres of an infected person. It has been shown that the contact time of two players during a football match is considerably less than this.
Edit - Just found this online,
"Research on 288 Premier League matches this season, conducted by league officials, found that 98 percent of the time on-pitch interactions between players lasted less than five minutes in total. That is well under the 15 minutes of close contact the government sets as the threshold for someone to be traced when an individual tests positive."

Thanks, interesting information.

What made me laugh on Sunday was when Jack Baldwin clashed with (I think) Nicky Hunt going for a header, the replay showed that, as Baldwin jumped, his left hand wiped over Hunt's face and cupped his mouth.
After the replay the camera cuts to Baldwin who is seen wiping his own mouth with his left hand that (he probably didn't even realise) had just been covering Hunt's mouth.
And yet the opposition team have to get changed in the bar so the players don't all come out of the same tunnel. Ridiculous.

While I agree to an extent within the actual game it's difficult to stop those things happening. Outside of game situations if clubs, leagues and FA's can take every precaution to stop the spread then great. It may seem nonsensical but as the Government have decided it's ok for games to go ahead, everything outside of game scenarios should be done to make things as safe as possible.

If the tunnel is such a dangerous place for virus spreading why not have the teams come out 30 seconds apart. Watching some post match interviews earlier in the season opposition players were seen walking down the Thatchers terrace with towels round their waists heading along the touch line and then to the showers down the tunnel. I think it was Sam Frost on his Q&A the the day who mentioned away players walk from the bar to the showers. All very odd.
