The gamble paid off and we have already made 140k in cup games .
Now we got a chance of another 40k v Wimbledon and over 100k v sheff utd if we win / plus TV .
The EFL should allow some of this cash to support a strikers wages in January..

Other fixtures...
Happy that Peterborough or Portsmouth will be eliminated and Hull or Fleetwood and either Accrington or Lincoln up north.

Strikers are paid a lot, so we'd need to offload 2 or 3 players to pay for the calibre of striker people are demanding. 3. That would unbalance the squad. 4. I can't count π

Surprised they don't label it as the Southern Quarter Final.

Hopefully Tranmere win their game. The fewer rounds featuring U21s the better.

Avoided Pompey and Posh, at home, so pretty good. Take it seriously (but not risk one or two key players) and we could/should progress

Click below and scroll to paragraph 13_14. It states " payments directly linked to cup are excluded from cap " . This needs clearing up because what is the use risking players in cup games if there is No revenue benefit ?. www.footballlaw.co.uk/articles/efl-salary-caps-and-the-pfa-challenge

I can't count π The squad is already unbalanced I agree, and we could probably do with another striker, but I can't see it, as any decent striker will cost too much. Unless we can unearth another Hanlan. A lot of people weren't happy with his goal record when he signed, so thinking about it, it probably is possible, but not easy.

I took it to mean that wages paid to players for playing in cup games were not included, but I could've misinterpreted it.

Or an Oztumer type situation, a decent player not getting games in the champ. Easy loan for the rest of the season. We wonβt be breaking the bank tho youβve got that right. Sounds like PT has an eye on outgoings already in jan

Happy with that draw and the prospect of more money for the club.

Yes I agreed it can be viewed in two different ways . And maybe the good old Evening Post could clear it up. If a club is allowed to use a ' reasonable amount ' from ' unbudgeted income' . Then this could be the difference between promotion / relegation for a lot of clubs . We could be looking at between 100-200k on wages if we are allowed and the club feels we need to strengthen . This applies to other clubs too.

This is exactly why this competition should be taken a little more seriously by some. Especially in the present time. Β£40k is a decent amount of money.
