Much prefer forums to social media, I don't have twitter or instagram - just use facebook for decent content I like to read and messaging friends, it's just another whatsapp tool for pretty much for me. I much prefer forums and its shame that since Covid this one has died down, although I do prefer the match day threads as home threads were often quiet, because people could actually attend the games). I often check the comments on articles on social media to get a gauge of where the public opinion lies, I'm usually disappointed by the extremity on there if I'm honest though. The problem is Gassy those platforms make it easy for people to be extreme. Lots of hollow talk with very little action. I deleted every form of social media around three years ago. very cleansing. i have interviewed people for employment within my orginisation and a few times people have asked if we checked their social media and distanced themselves from their own comments/posts! laughable. Forgot to mention the first question i usually ask is "You gas?".

Yep completely agree. I saw something a while ago that said along the lines of, "social media is a microphone for idiots" - can't argue with it tbh. I also find the way people write on social media odd. Twitter especially, whenever someone (inc. journalists) has something to say, it seems to be in 'twitter language' and half the time I can't work out what they've even said

I thought it got shut down mainly because there was anti Higgs stuff on there and they didn’t like it? I actually got a 30 day ban and left. Reason was that I commented that the Chris Zebroski abuse was justified as he had a criminal record and was pretty rubbish playing for us. Some woman running it said “disgraceful comments about Chris zebroski” - they really weren’t. I figured Chris was a good looking lad and a bit of a bad boy so said woman probably had either a thing for him, or maybe a motherly instinct. Either way, I left. Fk me! if Zebroski is good looking then theres hope for us all! I never did get the audition for Milk Tray Man, might reapply now. This was the statement put out by the club when they closed the old OF. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2014/may/club-has-decided-to-suspend-the-forum-on-the-official-website/'....libellous comments and misinformation concerning club affairs, directors and club staff....' Lucky that never happens on Gaschat then....

Thought it was shutdown around the end of our Relegation to non league, when rumours were rife about certain players and illegal substances. One particular player who was named left the club around that time without a credible explanation why, as a lot of us are aware in recent seasons he has been plying his trade for a club in league one.

Can you remember the last days of the OF? There was someone posting hardcore porn on there and I didn't get removed for weeks, it was hardly moderated at all.... I think it was left to rot for the last few months so it was easily justifiable to get rid.... Still, some great fun was had on there and some good friends made.... As I remember the demise of the OF followed the loss of our league status and the in many cases justifiable abuse that the board chairman and management recieved. I thought it was a cowardly act to close it down and try to hide from critiisism rather than face it. I remember posting an Everly Brothers song called "when will I be Loved" We've been cheated, been mistreated, Higgs we've had enough. It did not quite have the same impact as Rachel Aldana and co.

Can't remember why though.

I’ve always wondered why a club of our size has 2 forums, is there a way both of them could be merged together?

Suffice to say he was a young Irish lad, the other youngster is now the captain of a side in our league and the senior player is still plying his trade in our league.

'Still plying his trade' I hope it's football you mean

Is there other Rovers forums that people use? If so, what are they? I may have a nose at them to see if they are worth trying them out too alongside this place.
