I’ve noticed football forums are way lighter in numbers than they used to be. There used to be thousands of users.
This is probably the biggest forum, and it’s nowhere near the traffic it used to be say 5 or 10 years ago. I may be remembering wrong.
Is it the use of social media? I dislike it because in football matters, Facebook, everyone can see my witterings and I like the anon nature of forums.
I’m not bragging, my wife is 10 years younger and firmly a millennial and she is gobsmacked I use a forum “they’re for old people”
Most of this forum seems to be dad jokes.
Am I right in thinking the forum heyday is over and it’s only those in advancing years using them?

Yeah, a couple of my other niche interests have forums that are virtually dead, and for those I have recently moved to Discord. The demogrpahics for both of those are not partcularly young but on Discord I feel like an old man at a school disco.

I don’t really know what else is out there. This place is better than gas guzzler and the Facebook page is awful.

It's a bit like a forum, but just has long threads of (usually brief) comments, a lot like a facebook thread. But it also does audio and video chats, if you want them.

Definitely Social Media, people don't need to go anywhere else to talk to people, about things. Facebook has pretty much monopolised online socialising (which is does a reasonably good job off, which is the problem!)
I used to be part of a music and events industry forum (Hijack Bristol) and that was really good, socials were the death of that unfortunately, but I missed forum life, hence signing up to here.
It has to be admitted this isn't the best in terms of format, clunky and outdated. Bit like the mem. Possibly why I love both 💙

I’d be fairly careful about talking about your grooming activities publicly TBF mate!

I must admit, I only use this forum and Guzzler these days.
FB serves me well enough for my other interests, whereas 5-10 years ago I was regularly active on at least half a dozen others

I hope independent forums come back. I try to keep amazon to only things I have to buy on amazon, I’m a little uncomfortable with one company taking everything over.
Facebook I am stumped as I can only opt out if I decided to cut all my friendships off. What a business idea that is. A business which causes social isolation if you can’t use it. It’s almost designed for the human psyche. Oh, and it also knows everything about you.
Google, a place where you gather information, of which one can design which information is displayed, in what order, and stores everything you have interest in and all your email.
Some serious concentration of power there. I hope it never gets into the wrong hands

I loved the old official forum and I think the club did theirselfs a massive disservice when they closed it down. That said when I came on here as Royal blue back in 2014 it was a breath of fresh air and I realised how rubbish the old forum actually was, This forum doesn't seem as good now as it was then and I struggle to get into it nowadays although that might be just me, but some of the silly bickering on here I feel does drag the place down.

Yes I am old and therefore qualify to state that I do enjoy this forum. Apart from the obvious tw*ts there is a load of decent banter and humour
