Does anyone feel ripped off by last nights team selection?
I , like many others paid their £10 to watch , what I assumed was a first team fixture only for it to be a reserve team training session. Our manager freely admitted some players were selected to put them in the "shop window". Well I certainly didnt, or would not have paid if I had known that before I bought my ticket. If I wanted to look at a shop window I could have gone to ASDA
Giving all the above, I have to ask, if you knew before hand what team was being put out would you still have bought your match pass?
I for one wouldnt have. I feel ripped off. In the 60 years watching the Gas, cant say I have ever felt that

First, I have to say that was very naive of you to expect a full strength team. Secondly, had you listened to the pre-match interview with Tis you'd have been aware he was planning to make changes. Don't get me wrong, there's a question around whether the mickey mouse cup should command the same amount of money as a league game but that's another question entirely. I certainly don't think you can kick-off because he's rested players in it.

I admit i paid my £10 after I knew the team selection - wish I hadn’t but the Club does benefit financially. A terrible performance and despite what PT says about his selection and reasons why, the match did highlight the weakness in depth this current squad has - the match and many performances were abysmal. I would imagine there are at least four of the players on show last night that will not feature in the final squad of 22 particularly if as expected there at least two new players coming in.

I think it was a great opportunity for fringe players to show what they can do and stake a claim for the first team. Unfortunately no one really did and ‘Tis now probably realises that he has a bigger rebuilding job than he first thought! Terrible game to watch but not unexpected in the circumstances.

The entitlement of some people these days is mind boggling, I understand emotions fly during a game but this poster has had a night to sleep and still writes this. I can almost guarantee this morning PT will be mailing TW that half of that side is surplus to requirements freeing up wages for a new player or two. Happy days

I pretty much realised it was going to be a 2nd eleven on the pitch, but what I can't get over in this match or many of our last 30 or so, is the distinct lack of fight. One thing Rovers always had was fight and bottle, that was wet, ineffective and limp. I can get over losing, as long as all the players are battling, that was and has been missing for quite a while now. Beginning to fall out of love.

You pay your money and takes your chance buddy..
I can usually never be arsed with this cup unless it’s the later stages anyway as it’s usually used for fringe and young players which usually means a poor game.

I paid my £10 and dont feel in the least bit short changed. With the schedule we have coming up and the fact Tisdale has less than 3 weeks to make decisions on his final 22 man squad I dont think it was any surprise. Its easy to rant after the event but had Little's header gone in and we'd hung on I'm sure people would view things differently. Ultimately our league 1 status is the most important thing and if last night goes someway towards ensuring it then job done

Does anyone feel ripped off by last nights team selection? Nope. Fully agreed with the team selection & not in the slightest bit bothered we lost and are out. I’d say wait until the lineups are out before buying your pass next time - at least you have a better idea what you’re paying for then!

Are we saying that there was no fight shown v Sheff U, Blackpool, Plymouth, AFC Wimbledon (in the league)? I’d agree that in some games under Garner there was a lack of battling etc, but under Tisdale that’s been far from the case.

Don't feel ripped off in the slightest ... disappointed but not ripped off.
PT has a huge task keeping us up which must be the priority if he learnt last night that some on show like Kelly / Barrett / Harries/ Upson need to go it was a worthwhile exercise.... if he keeps them then it was a waste of time.
As for putting people in the Shop Window - what shop ? What window ? Nobody wants the crap that we are trying to move on.

Nobody can say that was anything but an underwhelming performance by players all in the first team squad. Just highlights to me that about seven of them are simply not good enough and hopefully our manager now has a clear picture of what he inherited from BG. I paid the £10 to watch, obviously it was not good value, but at least it goes towards the club coffers in this very difficult time for business's in all sectors. In my case as a retired St holder, I am saving a good amount of money on not being able to attend games and am quite happy for some of that to go towards helping the club out in order that I have a club to watch live in the future. UTG!

Paid and watched the match. Didn’t feel ripped off. Was interested to see how some fringe players would take their chance. Most didn’t and the lack of urgency from some whose futures are on the line was the most surprising thing for me.
Looking forward to Saturday and what happens in the rest of the transfer window.

PT would have learnt a lot from this game and is now better placed to make decisions on certain players. I am sure this will be of benefit to us come the end of the month. One minute people are saying we should boycott this competition and play the kids, the next they are raging that we have not put out our best eleven. The same people would have also been upset come Saturday when some of our first teamers got themselves injured last night! The league is far more important.

Should have adopted the same mentality throughout the competition?

This was always going to used for him to decide who he needs and what he needs, despite him saying that last night was not make or break he would have identified who he needs to ship out. Personally I listened as loads of league games coming up plus I could do other jobs. Playing no recognised strikers was always going to end in disaster. He sounded disappointed at the end of the match but Tis will have learnt a lot.

I would imagine there are at least four of the players on show last night that will not feature in the final squad of 22 particularly if as expected there at least two new players coming in. Hey pal, could I enquire which 4 players you think that might be? Not trying to stir anything, if anything I wouldn't mind us all having a chat about it and all that. I don't mind what PT did as it will hopefully be for the good of the club. I feel it may be a bit harsh on some playing out of position to be judged so harshly on that performance before going out on loan or out of the squad reckoning or something but we are needing to do something right? For me... for the chunks I was able to watch (3 demanding kids) I thought that Ogogo's return added some bite and a whole lot more pressure into the mix. {Data related part - ignore if you are bored or have no interest in data} I have been reading up on the impact of pressure during a match and have found it to be interesting (not everyone's cup of tea I'm sure). For those that are interested statsbomb have some good articles and also some advancement on the traditional xG models that I also found interesting: statsbomb.com/2018/09/closing-down-how-defensive-pressure-impacts-shots/{back to the opinion stuff}I was really pleased to see Joe Day again with his calm collect and quickly distribute from goal. We didn't have our most creative or speedy players out there last night, but real positives for our starting XI, I can see him starting of a good few attacking moves for us. Would you have him permanently? For me its a big YES. I thought Kelly was competent at LB, although was caught out in the height department from time to time. I must admit I did want to see Tutonda play again but in a more advance attacking role however I fear he will go out on loan for the remainder as was given no minutes last night. While we are on the subject... Ben Liddle didn't even make the bench which was a surprise. I did want to see more of him too but maybe he is already earmarked for loan. I didn't get to see much of Barrett, Koiki or Rodders as the parts I watched, we went long a lot, in the air, which isn't going to be easy for them. Frosty in the evening post suggests Tisdale is a fan of Barrett so I expect him to stay in the reckoning as he determines what role best suits him. A part of me wonders if he could do the Josh Sheehan role. Creative central defensive midfielder... food for thought. Anyone got anything of note on Koiki or Rodman? Harries - I saw a few headers won and the customary long diagonal balls, most of which didn't get controlled. One assumes that he is safe as we need CB cover after all. Little - Happy with what you get with Little at right back and may well challenge Ehmer soon which then begs the question... who is the best CB pairing? Hare - I didn't get to see much of him at all but seems like he whipped in a few good balls - anyone see more that could offer opinion? Walker - Thought he looked lively and warrants a place in the squad (probably young enough not to count towards it come to think of it) Ayunga - Still need to see him more and with Nicholson out, could get another opportunity on Saturday unless Nicholson recovers Hargreaves - Ran around loads from the small window I was watching and will always do that, but is it enough for league 1? Upson, Kilgour Westbrooke and Grant are pretty much starting XI ready so not going out on loan or anything so not worth unpacking at this point Anyways that my take. Be great for you to add/agree/disagree etc Much love

And, you can wait to see the team sheet before buying the match pass (you get about an hour's grace to do it).

I accept that this cup competition was and is a tool for assessing players but that should be in the early rounds. Last night match had a £40,000 win payment.
8 changes from last Saturday, plus 5 subs used made me wonder just how much of value there was doing that.
The game lacked any competitive play and was, to be quite frank, boring.it was a training session, nothing more.
