Has joined Barrow on loan for the rest of the season.
All the best Tom, but a strange one imo. I’d of let harries go out on loan to get game time and Tom fight for his place once match fit.

Makes sense, hopefully can get some games under his belt and get back up to full speed ready for next season. He’s missed a lot of football so it won’t be easy!

Wasn't expecting that.
Spend all that time rehabilitating him then send him out on loan...
We won't be seeing him in a rovers shirt again I doubt.
Good Luck Tom!

I liked Tom, sounded like a really nice guy as a co-commentator on RB and was a good centre back for us under Coughlan a year or two ago.
I think this makes sense though, we need to trim down on numbers to meet the squad limit and wages to bring a few more in. Davies needs to regain fitness and rebuild his career playing games regularly week in week out.
All the best at Barrow, Tom!

Our best defender is allowed to join a club in a lower division. Where tge feck is the sense in that? I would sooner play him than Baldwin,Ehmer Kilgour and Harries.

Agree with all of this. if he gets back to the same fitness he was before his injury he is our best central defender. Hopefully we can get him back as he was before. All the best up North Tom!

When fit he is a very good defender at this level. I was hoping to see him force his way back into the team. Sending him out on loan may have made more sense if he was still under contract for next season but with him being out of contract in the summer that’s probably the last we will see of him unfortunately.
I also assume that with him having a long term injury I doubt he was included in the squad list for the first half of the season so he won’t actually be freeing up any space.

Our best defender when fit but there's no guarantee he'll be fully fit this season, plus it would be a big risk offering him a contract for next season of he gets fit given how long he's been out injured.

Yeah it’s a weird one because if he could prove he was able to play games week in week out, fit and avoiding injuries, I would much rather have him starting than Baldwin or Harries. However, he’s never played more than 32 games in a season before in his entire career. If Tisdale takes a chance on him and he gets injured again, then that’s a space in the 22 and wages that we can’t use to improve the squad to get us out of the mess we are currently in. So I understand the decision but it’s sad to see him go. May be worth reviewing this in the summer and if he’s done well out on loan, making him part of our plans going forward.

Amazing the reaction from some gasheads. If he was kept and not included in the squad people would have been complaining we’d kept on a player who is an injury risk.
He’s not played in over 12 months has he? If he’s fit, he’s likely to be a fraction of where he was when he was at his best for us. We can’t risk his fitness.

Whilst I'd agree a fully fit Tom Davies would be a certain starter for us I don't think with his injury record it was a risk we could afford to take. If this situation had happened under last seasons squad rules I don't think for a moment he would have been loaned out. I hope he's gone there with an agreement that if he proves his fitness there is still a future for him with us but fear he may have played his last game for us. Good luck Tom

100% the correct decision Tom has been out with a bad injury for a long period of time and we could not take the risk of him breaking down again.

Probably our best centreback but he's only completed 25 League games in a season twice since 2013/14.

Not like we havent always got a CB on the bench anyway. If fit to play IMO you play your best players and he is one of the better, if not THE best CB we have.

Surprised at this as our defence was at its best when Tom was playing. Having said that am not aware of all the facts surrounding Tom's situation so have to leave it to those that are and trust they make the best decision for club and player ,good luck Tom ,hope to see you back next season.

Victim of new 22 man squad system which will be hard on players coming back from long term injury and hard on young players just over the age limit hoping to break into first team.
Full marks to Tom in wanting to play and prove fitness...he could have just taken the money from us as a non-squad player.
Good luck Tom and hope you stay fit and get the game time you want.

Not like we havent always got a CB on the bench anyway. If fit to play IMO you play your best players and he is one of the better, if not THE best CB we have. But he’s not proved he’s fully match fit yet (he won’t be as he hasn’t played any matches so will take a few matches at least to get there) and with a 22 man limit, to play him we’d have to name him in that 22 meaning someone else misses out and if he then breaks down we won’t necessarily have someone to come in and cover. Also we wouldn’t be able to recall a player and play them as they wouldn’t have been named in the list. Completely the right decision as he’ll gain fitness and matches there and whilst his contract expires in the summer, it wouldn’t surprise me if he got offered a new contract as I believe Tis is an admirer and he has impressed the coaching staff with his attitude and recovery.
