Our best performances under PT have come when we've played either 4231 or a midfield diamond so I'd definitely go back to that. Assuming the injured players are all still out I'd go Day Williams Kilgour Ehmer Leahy Grant Hargreaves McCormick Oztuhmer Hanlan Nicholson Hargreaves might not be the most creative but alongside McCormick he'll give us energy in midfield, Westbrooke was poor on Sat, I'm not writing him off but would give him a break Perhaps that 11but the formation is too narrow and we’ll be too predictable I’d go 4231 with nicholson and Hargreaves out wide Nicholson on the right cutting in on his left which I think is his best position. Wouldnt be against that at all, I'd much rather see either of those than 5 at the back again

Play McCormick 100% and Baldwin if fit. 4-4-2 Day Ehmer Baldwin Kilgour Leahy Williams grant McCormick Dave T Oz Nicholson Give Hanlan a rest and use him as an impact sub. We are flogging that guy to death. One hamstring injury to him and we are relegated That looks like a flat back 6, a defensive midfielder and no strikers. Not for me thanks.

Please put a man on each goal post for corners I can’t watch us let in another goal from a corner ! Or I will scream Which would inevitably leave opposition players unmarked in the box.

Back in the day we used to have jock on the right post and joner on the left post and if it didn’t go near them then Geoff or Bruno or one of the other big lads would claim it and head away. I realise footballs changed but it’s still a bloke booting a bag of wind in to an area and two teams who SHOULD be busting their guts to get to it first.

Ellis Harrison was superb defending corners for us in the same way Devon White was. A lot of strikers are to be fair, Shearer was the same and Harry Kane more recently. There is a lot more going on these days from corners. Lots of planning goes into blocking defenders off etc, players have no interest in attacking the ball. If we have two on the posts and the opposition do a good job with their blocks they will potentially have a couple spare to head the ball unchallenged. A big risk having two defenders (traditionally fullbacks) sticking rigidly to the posts imo.

Accrington's Style of Play Take long shots Take a lot of shots Attack through the middle Attacking down the left Long balls Attempt crosses often Consistent first eleven Playing in their own half Non-aggressive
So if that’s the style of play we’re up against I’d double up on our right with Hare in front of Williams. With Ogogo out Grant will have to be the midfielder charged with breaking up their attacks down the middle playing in front of Kilgour and Ehmer if Baldwin is also still out ,might rest Ozzy and Hanlan and use them when the home defenders are a bit more tired. So if Ayunga is up top then Hare and Leahy need to be pinging crosses in at him and Nicholson and Hargreaves need to be running past him for the knockdowns....
Day Williams Kilgour Ehmer Leahy
Grant
Hare McCormick Hargreaves Nicholson
Ayunga
Used Subs
Hanlan Oztumer Tutonda Walker
Unused subs
Harries JVS Heal
Despite all that a draw is the best we’ll get.

Tough Tough game .... They are in very decent form. I think we lose this one but bounce back with a win on Saturday. WWLLWD is half decent but the way we're shipping pathetic goals at the moment and playing predictable 'get it down the flanks and lob it into the box' football to a bloke more suited to having it played through the middle I can only see another W added to that list. The signing of Williams seems to have shored up our right flank through which teams were targeting us, but our near post defending is bog standard. Garner brought in players suited to one-touch football on the ground, football based on building momentum and clinical finishing. Results may have been poor, which is only to be expected with such a young, naive squad, but their movement off the ball and some of their passages of play were a delight to watch and far superior to what's being dished up at present. Some fans are already calling Tisdale a dinosaur but to me he's more like Eeyore than Tigger.
