From 4th to 4th from bottom in 12 months.
1. Garner; dreadful appointment. No experience working at this level but given free reign to do what he likes with our team, and the budget. 2. Recruitment; dreadful, only one stiker with Division One experience signed. 4 left backs. "Best squad since promotion" Crows Widdrington. 3. Who was overseeing the signings? Probably no one, but someone should have been. 4. 12 defenders; 12 midfielders; 3 forwards; 4 goalies: When clubs are cutting down their numbers our squad is ballooning 5. Trying to change most of your first team in one year. This should have been done over 3 or 4 seasons. We said goodbye to players better than we signed. 6. The quality of our new signings. Probably 1 or 2 better than average. Is Day really better than Stopashot? 7. Tisdale, very little experience at this level, and that was pretty unimpressive. 8. Grayson has signed a deal until the end of the season with Fleetwood. We sign a manager on a 2 and a half year deal. Why? 9. Grayson was interviewed, Tisdale was "appointed". We were told there would be interviews. there was one. 10. We desprately need a forward (even on loan) We sign a fullback and a Goalie, and those 2 wages would have got a "reasonable" forward in. 11. If we go down, Tisdale will probably keep his job, seeing he is a good friend of our "Chairman". 12. The project to achieve success and sell our best players. We have always sold our best players and thats why we have won very little
Every season we look forward to being better than the last, and it was beginning to look like we could achieve something. We had a "rough and ready" Manager in Coughlin, but he knew this league, and to get us out of the crap he signed, a Goalie, a central midfielder, and a very good centre forward. Or a new spine in a spineless team. Again we have yet another spineless team who want to pale tippy tappy football, unfortunately they dont have the abilitiy to do that, or indeed play the "basic" stuff we need. I cannot see us staying up. We will pull off a few wins against teams in midtable, but then we will buckle (no pun intended) when it comes to Swindon, and Burton and others at the bottom.
This whole disastrous season has been brought about by courtesy of the board. Not Wael, because I think he is still a bit naieve, but both Starnes and Widdrington have a lot to answer for. Quote "Bristol Rovers Football Club is delighted to announce Paul Tisdale as its new First Team Manager. CEO Martyn Starnes said Tisdale's qualities "mirror that of the Club’s' ongoing strategy to build a ‘Bristol Rovers DNA’, with the new Manager signing a two and a half year deal.

This makes shopping take anything up to 1000% longer than it should do....

Back to the OP praising GC, the fact he flipped hopelessly at Mansfield and NC looks like he might get them to at least the playoffs with virtually the same players, suggests GC clearly has limitations and would have probably run out of steam at Rovers when he was forced to sell JCH.

Yet another negative post repeating every thing that's been said before, besides apart from the few things mentioned what's there to moan about! As some one mentioned a guy on Twentymans show phoned in and used the exact same 'shambles of a club' phrase about the Teds! who sit comfortably in mid table championship!

I get the impression that some people actually enjoy the times when we are struggling. Admittedly that is most of the time being a Gashead.

Actually, we can only judge GC on his results here. By that judgement his performance was mightily impressive. He saved us from relegation in one season and took us to 4th in the table the following season. Just because he subsequently failed at another club does not mean he would have "run out of steam" here.
