Another football legend passes on. Far too many lost recently. Condolences to his family.

Agreed. A great player. A decent TV presenter as well.

Made his league debut for Liverpool along with Ron Yeats against Rovers at Eastville in 1961 - we lost 2-0. RIP fella.

It has to happen of course, but it's sad when it does and you wish they could have had a bit longer.

Loved saint and Greavsie RIP Ian. Yep, still got Saint And Greavsie "It's A Funny Old Game" on VHS. I just can't bring myself to throw it out, even though I've got naff all to play it on. Great memories!

Getting personal.....a photo of that match, including Ian, appeared in Charlie Buchan's Football Monthly. The first time I had seen a Rovers photo in an 'important' publication. I always took an interest in LFC after that. Funny, aren't we, as kids. Well, I was!

Sad news. He was a great footballer and forged a prolific strike partnership with Roger Hunt for LFC. Then his lunchtime football chat show with Greavsie was essential watching for all football fans before the game that afternoon. Those were the days when all the matches in the four leagues were played on Saturday afternoon with standardised kick offs at 3.00 pm.
