The Swindon postponement has got me thinking (plus on leave this week so time on my hands) - did the weather/ref/opposition (delete as applicable) rob us of a great chance of victory? Did we escape a defeat and will be in better shape when we do play them?
I then started wondering about postponements in general. Are there ever ‘good’ ones? Which ones have benefited us? Which have I enjoyed? Which ones have been bad for us? Or been most disappointing? So for me:
Best postponements: City at home Feb. 1990 - no 2nd May without it (plus they had been in form at the time, but by May were stuttering and I think had lost Bob Taylor to injury) Oxford away (think about 10 years ago?) - arrived to find pitch frozen but led to a great p*ss up in Oxford (and some trouble with Swindon on the way back I seem to remember) Orient (or was it Luton?) away. As above but a few years earlier (and without the trouble) Stockport at home before the JPT city game (for obvious reasons)
Worst postponements: City away (early 90s) - so disappointed as been looking forward to it for ages. Pitch playable but ice on terraces and around the ground apparently. Think they beat us in the rearranged fixture. Swindon away - the half-time abandonment and wettest I’ve ever been (to make it worse I got there 20 minutes late).
Loads more in both categories I’m sure.

I'm pretty sure the City game that was called off for ice is the one we won on the Tuesdsy night that had thousands locked out and Beadle scored both goals.

If I remember it was not all ticket for them (even though a Friday just before Xmas) but they could still buy in advance - cue chaos.

The rearranged Swindle game, wasn`t the worst day of my life either. One nil down for most of it, then two goals in a minute to shut the fcuckers up. Sorted.

The most famous one is of course the Wycombe lightning incident! Comfortably winning that one to loosing the rematch!
I think we were playing someone like Hartlepool at the mem only for the game to be abandoned about ten minutes into the game. I felt sorry for their travelling fans but I'm pretty sure they beat us in the rearranged fixture?!

Best postponement of all time? 1963 ,Jan, village cut off by snow, no School till March! Happy days till some enterprising local farmers dug a way out and in for the coach, spoil sports! Fair play to legas for coming up with an 'original' thread !
