To put the ball in the back of the net. If someone in the squad finds a way to do this, then we’ve got a chance. And with Jaak back, there’s no reason we can’t get a few good results. UTG!

We would need to turn our form over the last 16 months on its head. I think it would be the greatest ‘great escape’ story in the football league for a long time. Unfortunately, we don’t have the quality in the squad to do it. That’s been proven throughout the season. Sounds like it would be ground breaking. If ever we needed a ground breaking set of results, now is the time.

We’re going down, I honestly can’t see us getting 1 win, let alone 4. We haven’t got it in us.

I would say we need a minimum of 4 wins and one of those pretty well must be Northampton away. if you look at the last six results of the bottom 6 Northampton 2 wins out of 6 Wigan 2 wins out of 6 Swindon 2 Wins out of 6 Rochdale 1 win out of 6 Wimbledon 1 win out of 6 Bristol Rover5s 1 win out of 6 All these teams will need to show a vast improvement to get to 46 points TO GET TO 46 POINTS Northampton have Sunderland ,Peterborough and Hull City AWAY .with 7 to go. They need a massive improvement to get to 46- 3 wins and a draw required Wigan have 9 games left and need 4 wins and play Swindon at home. They have Gillingham,Doncaster,Shrewsbury and Hull away as well as Sunderland at home Swindon have 9 games too so need 9 points to reach 46 and probably have the easiest run in except for the fact they play 3 of the teams in the mire too Rochdale,Wimbledon and Wigan all AWAY and also go to MK Dons, Burton and play Peterborough at home. Rochdale too have 9 games to go and probably need 5 wins to get past 46. They play Swindon Home and Wigan and Wimbledon away out of the bottom 6 but will need to win at places like Portsmouth,Fleetwood and MK Dons with home games against Ipswich,Blackpool,Accrington and Doncaster Wimbledon have 10 games to go and will need 4 wins /3 wins and a draw or lots of draws. They play Swindon and Rochdale at home from the bottom six but play Ipswich twice,Lincoln Away and go to Plymouth and Accrington and also play Oxford and Portsmouth at home My only problem is that I just don't see us getting anywhere near the 46 points!! The point I am making though is that it is not as impossible as people are making out if we can get one of the wins in our next two games to boost confidence. Good post Steve. The trouble is that the manager has given up and it looks like he is just preparing for next season. The way I look at this now is whilst we are very likely to go down there is a decent chance that pending improvement in taking and converting chances, because at the end of the day that’s all that we’re not doing, we could stay up. However look at it this way. None of us have seen a live experience watching Rovers at The Mem or away from home for the past 54 weeks. I believe that when we get the chance to return whenever the season starts for 21/22 we will, or I will just look back on 20/21 just being so unique that irrespective of which division we are in we as fans will just pick ourselves up and take ourselves and the club, team & whoever is manager on a new aim of promotion out of that division. I’m the biggest cynic out there but that’s the way I’m thinking. The end of this season cannot come quickly enough. We move on UTG

Daft calling for 442 as some kind of masterplan.
It might have worked years ago when defenders and goalkeepers weren't as good on the ball so resorted to kicking it long, but we'd simply get passed by and overwhelmed.
The only way it can perhaps work is if the second striker plays deeper and more like a wider forward or attacking midfielder.
As others have said, we need a radical upturn in form, and I'm not sure we could turn it on like a switch.

Over the bank Holiday this weekend against Ipswich and Doncaster Imo the minimum required points for those 2 games is 4 points
2 loses or 2 draws and its over for us.

There was a glimmer of hope yesterday. The Rovers team that turned up were a cut above any starting 11 I've seen this season. Where have they been hiding? I thought they gave Sunderland a good run for their money. We had a couple (literally) of good chances but what a woeful goal to concede. In short, we might just do it. It is really tight at the bottom We have been error ridden at the back, sure not enough goals either, but the continuous and regular defensive mistakes have been costly.

Just did the Fishy calculator for the bottom 6; 19 AFC Wimbledon 46 -20 45 20 Swindon 46 -26 44 ------------------- 21 Bristol Rovers 46 -22 43 22 Northampton 46 -28 40 23 Wigan 46 -29 39 24 Rochdale 46 -29 38 I noticed whilst doing it that Ipswich have SIX games left against the bottom six (Wimbledon twice). They could easily build up a head of steam so glad we're playing them first. Also Wigan v Swindon last game of the season looks like it could be massive already. I put draw so just need Wigan to sneak a winner like they did against us and we're safe... does that count as positivity? If anyone wants to have a go: thefishy.co.uk/football-calculator.php

What do we need to avoid relegation? A miracle. Unfortunately, I don’t believe in them. We are going down. 😩⚽️ Yes - when I saw the thread title those words sprung immediately to my mind too. Can’t look further ahead than the next game. If we can somehow get a win at Portman Road then maybe we can look at the table but we have to put everything we possibly can into that match. If we’re not good enough, we’re not good enough.

Which makes the lack of activity in the January transfer window, whilst all our rivals were strengthening, even more puzzling...

Whilst it is still mathematically possible to stay up, what is actually happening? Games are drifting by. Goals are being conceded at one end and not scored at the other. This team has won just 11 games in the last 54. That's a win every 5 games or a 20% win percentage. Let's be realistic. What on earth convinces anybody that this team is capable of stringing a set of winning results together?
Love to be proved wrong.

Since then: P54 W11 D12 L31 F45 A84 Thats scary ,is that including cup games ? Equivalent to ..45pts from 54 games. So that form across a 46 game season equals about 38pts. So expect 1 win 1 draw and 6 defeats to come.(38pts) Though this seasons form would see 2 wins 1 draw and 5 defeats to come.(41pts) And to think the previous 46 had rovers apparently the 2nd best in the league. Jaakola Kilgour Leahy Upson Rodman Played in most of those successful games. So find adequate replacements for Craig Davies Clarke Ogogo (injured at present) Nicholls Clarke-harris. And we are laughing. So.... Williams Baldwin McCormick Grant Barratt Ayunga (?)

Looking at the fixtures I think it’s quite possible everybody at the bottle will lose their games over the Easter weekend
