Confirmed by the coroner that he died through hanging. So very sad.
May this awful news be a timely reminder to some on the forum to be kind to one another. It really isnt that hard

Terribly sad news. I find it especially sad to hear about suicide, as you wish that they could have received some sort of help, and perhaps he'd have been able to overcome those thoughts.
Condolences to his friends and family. May he Rest In Peace.

Football can be a cruel game, for th players, management they are loved one minute, hated th next. When a manager or player perform well th supporters lift them up like heroes - when they don’t, they get sacked or dropped. “That’s football” they all say, for th folk that watch it it’s entertaining, for those who take part an have all that expectation on their shoulders it must be incredibly hard.
Obviously I don’t know why he took his own life, but I feel his pain an hope he is now free from it. Rest in peace pal, and condolences to all your friends an especially your family. So, so sad.

Incredibly sad , terrible situation for his family , wife and 3 young daughters . Not saying this had anything to do with this tragedy , but sometimes when I’ve been at matches , and indeed on forums , I try and put myself in their position , when being overly critiqued by fans ‘ . If you can’t say anything positive or encouraging , best to say nothing at all ! RIP Lee Collins .

Very sad and tragic news, RIP and condolences to the family.
I'm sure many of us have had bad times and on occasion, myself included, have had darker thoughts too.
Hope we can all step back a bit and realise what is really important in life.

Very sad, I believe there is lobbying to make it law that every place of work should have a mental health first aider.
For me this can't come soon enough as if it can help just one person it'll be worth it.

As someone who has personal ongoing issues with a family member suffering from mental health / anxiety and depression , along with suicidal thoughts on a regular basis, I can really relate to this sensitive subject. Every day is unbearably hard and emotionally draining for all concerned. I know I can be a bit of a chopsy bugger at times but I mean nothing by it , I know I don’t know any of you guys on a personal level , but if anyone is ever is need of a chat when times get tough , just message me. Suicide is a silent killer , just because you can’t see it , doesn’t mean it’s not there.

I agree with this but also it needs to be done properly, not just a tick box exercise as it will be for some companies.

As a foot note-
No matter who you are, if you’re struggling- speak out, talk to someone, even pm someone on here, but don’t ever suffer in silence.
There is always someone who will listen and help.

It really isnt that hard Not just to each other on here. Players, managers, referees, they’re all human beings and don’t deserve abuse, no matter what the situation. Nobody knows what’s going on inside another’s head. Thoughts with Lee’s friends and family.

Worth considering this scenario when players get some of the stick they do despite fans not knowing the reality of their situation - could be playing through illness, injury, mental obstacles, emotional ones... criticism of performance is to be expected, but Josh Barrett had some horrid comments on here not too long ago, Zane Westbrook’s had some, Kyle Bennett and Tom Nichols got a lot of grief, and Hanlan and Ehmer also taken a fair bit beyond just performance. Think it’s a sobering reminder to not go too far as you’ll never know the potential damage.
