For me, it's been the defence and midfield that has let us down this season not our forwards. Zain Weatbrooke promised so much when he arrived but he has been quite shocking. He shows flashes of brilliance but not in danger areas, his free kicks have become a bit of a joke.
Clear out the defence and clear out the midfield. Keep the forwards.
If JB is to stay then we need two midfield crunching tacklers (one spare for when the other gets sent off and suspended) and a couple of ball players.

Whether we are relegated at the end of the season or not, it's very clear a major revamp in the squad is needed, that being said; what are people's thoughts on who should be kept? I'll give a template and people put Keep or get rid or perhaps unsure. (although most players' circumstances will be dependent on contracts, suppose for this anyone can be let go). Jordi Van Stappershoef: - let go Mark Little: - let go or look to move to coaching? Luke Leahy: - keep Josh Grant: - keep Max Ehmer: - keep ( I think Barton will get the best out of him when he’s fit) Ed Upson: - keep Ben Liddell: - Keep Zain Westbrooke: - Keep Brandon Hanlan: - Keep Sam Nicholson: - Keep Joe Day (as on loan, should we sign or not sign?): - if we let JVS go sign as back up. Luke McCormick (as on loan, sign or not sign?): - Try to sign Alfie Kilgour: - Keep James Daly: - Keep Cameron Hargreaves: - Keep Jonah Ayunga: - Keep Josh Hare: - 50/50 I think he could be useful Tom Mehew: - Keep David Tutonda: - release, I just don’t think he’s that great Cian Harries: - Keep Jack Baldwin: - Keep Anssi Jaakkola: - Keep Alex Rodman: - Keep Pablo Martinez: - Keep Zain walker: - Keep Josh Barrett: - Keep Erhun Oztumer (as on loan, sign or not sign?): don’t sign Abu Ogogo: - 50/50 as he’d be a good enforcer in league 2 George Williams: - Keep Ali koiki: - release. I don’t see what everyone else does when he first signed. Interested to know people's thoughts

Astonished that one or 2 would get rid of Tom Mehew!

Regarding who goes or stays if and when relegation is confirmed do they have wages cuts in there contracts if we drop a division I just didn't see relegation was an option at the beginning of the season. I thought we had done really well with our recruitment. Got in some young exciting players. We 'stole' Gillinghams tough tacking centre back captain. We got Zaine Westbrooke who was part of the Coventry promotion side the previous season. We even signed a stroker from one of our rivals. It was playoffs all the way for me. I can't help thinking that I wasn't on my own. So I doubt that the people at the club thought about relegation either.

Westbrooke puts a lot of balls in to dangerous areas. They look bad because nobody attacks the bloody ball. Yesterday he set up the goal, and also a great chance for Baldwin who somehow headed the ball weakly at the keeper. His delivery is not always bad.

Going into the season with only three strikers was absolutely ridiculous, even more so with two of the strikers with no goals between them in the football league and the other one who had never reached double figures for goals in the league. To be fair, we've done even worse than I imagined as I predicted a 16th place finish.

Let's see what these players can produce in the remaining games before we start writing them off. Firstly we don't know what division we will be in and secondlyif any of them are daft enough to read this forum it will do their confidence to see their names as "get rid". Let's wait until our destiny is confirmed and them have a discussion

Interesting to see that almost everyobody would keep Hanlan, Ayunga and Daly despite them scoring a total of 16 goals from 108 appearances. I'm not saying I would release them but can we really afford to keep all 3?
Leahy and Rodman have been 2 of our best players this season and their experience is invaluable. Rodders has had a few health problems but no major injuries so would would offer both a 1 year deal.
The only other players I would be disappointed to see leave are Jaakkola, McCormick and Nicholson.
It will come down to which players JB thinks can improve and which he thinks are never going to be good enough. We're also going to be stuck with some players he'd rather release that are under contract.

It also depends which players who are under contract might want to leave if we get relegated

It also depends which players who are under contract might want to leave if we get relegated .. and it also depends on who'll want to stay if Barton remains in charge, if he does then I wouldn't be surprised if the only present first team senior player starting in our first game in L2 is Leahy, plus possibly Grant unless he gets a better offer from a L1 side/isn't prepared to take a pay cut.

We`d have been better off, signing Tony Bennett.

I agree, my expectations following the summer recruitment was top 10 or higher..... I thought It was decent with only not signing a 4th striker my main concern. I still believe in the bulk of the squad and I do think we have been hit by having 3 different managers and changes in styles and philosophies confusing players, losses leading to lack of confidence and then nervous play and really poor refereeing decisions topped by injuries hitting us at the wrong time.

There is something here that may have had a massive impact on the team, Covid. Do we know who had it and who didn't? I know Oztumer had it and that is one of the reasons why he hasn't had the expected impact. In fact there is mention of Long covid for him. Who else had it? Are they back to 100% fitness? I'm not sure anyone in the squad is 100%, so maybe this has had an impact more that we realise.

Icegas, Rodman is 34 and very injury/illness prone. Can we really afford to take a chance on him? Barratt is young and on a contract so we will have little choice. Rodman is very much a manager's type of player, I'm pretty sure that he'll be with us next season.
