This is his best interview since the first couple of weeks. Calm, level headed, taking some responsibility. I still worry if this is the right appointment and the last few weeks I have really been put back into the position thinking we got it wrong big time, but we need to give him the summer and the vast majority of next season to prove himself. I want him to succeed.

Maybe should have kept quiet about the Ayunga injury after he terrorised Pompey at our place

I did like him saying he wants to build a squad with Anssi, Leahy etc. It's quite telling about the last 16/17 months that both those 2 were signed before Garner had arrived.

Good interview though. Had all his interviews been like this I'd be far more behind him than I have been.
IF he genuinely wants to be here AND he doesn't get sent down then we do have to give him the opportunity to re-build over the summer. I certainly trust JB's judgement better than Widdrington's.
I just hope we try to protect ourselves where possible though - i.e. if he does move on sooner rather than later (for whatever reason that may be) then a damage limitation perspective. Be that ensuring he can't come back for coaches he's bought in for at least 12 months etc etc.

Can't see us getting 12k too often regardless how well we're doing but we had over 11k for our final match against Daggers so I get his point. We have a large - certainly for L2 - passionate fanbase that will expect a top 7 finish next season.
Pleased he mentioned Jaakkola and Leahy as they're 2 I'd like to stay and I'm optimistic he'll now know which players are capable of success in L2.
I think we'll have a squad of players that are mentally and physically stronger next season and I'm looking forward to seeing who we bring in.

Some weird bits where he is almost thinking out loud and rambling, but then some bits that are really positive. His mentality of "we have got to secure" players like Anssi if we are going to be successful is good to see. It's stating the bloody obvious, but it is nice to see some real grit and determination behind it. And his feedback on the conversations with Wael supporting that also sounds positive. So he listed Jaakkola and Leahy that he definitely wants to keep. I interpreted him saying Jonah won't feature just because he is injured as him saying he will probably stay too?

If we're doing well then no reason why we can't for a few games. We got full houses in The Conference against Alfreton and Play Off game v Forest Green. Plus as you said the Dagenham game in League 2, think we got 10k for the penultimate home games that season too. Also the fact that we haven't been able to set foot in The Mem for 14 months will entice a lot of us back, at least for the first few games of the season. If we start off well and are winning games, no reason why it won't continue. Certainly getting 8-9k reguarly. On the flip side, if we don't it could get ugly and crowds dip to 5k again.

He rated Jonah very highly after his performances against Accrington and Charlton. It would be sad if he now cast him aside, as I really do think Jonah could be an excellent striker in L2. He needs a couple of goals to get his confidence back.

It's took him long enough to say that in all fairness, Pirate.

It's took him long enough to say that in all fairness, Pirate. 15 games is it, and three wins. To be precise.

It's took him long enough to say that in all fairness, Pirate. As far as I recall he has taken blame for results from quite early on?...obviously he has mentioned important factors too, but in all honesty if 2 managers get sacked in 1 season what chance does the 3rd have without a transfer window?

Be that ensuring he can't come back for coaches he's bought in for at least 12 months etc etc. I'd have the opposite is the better option, if he leaves then he takes his coaches and Eddy Jennings with him, otherwise we're stuck with his coaches on the wage bill as we are now with Maher. Although I'm not sure why your now obsessed with him leaving us, if he does leave then it'll be because he's doing a good job and he's been headhunted.

Well obviously we can waive it if we want to Topper. It's more to be used to work in our favour for any we might want to keep.
