The Gaschat forum stands against all forms of online bullying and abuse.
I am sure that most of you are aware that this weekend football clubs up and down the country will be observing a social media boycott to stand against online abuse.
In accordance with this and to stand in support with the EFL and Bristol Rovers football club we intend to close the forum for a short period of time.
We will enter maintenance mode between the hours of 5pm and 7pm today.
This is a decision that I am sure may stir some debate and one that has been taken with a great deal of consideration.
We feel that it is important to take this action but also appreciate that our many members do rely on the service we provide to keep in touch during the game itself.
Kind regards
From
Gaschat Moderating Team.

Since the moment it was created, which is why we have a report post feature and urge posters to report any post they deem to be bullying or abuse so we can take action if necessary. It’s not often easy moderating an online forum because everyone has a different opinion on how it should be run, but I’d like to think we take a firmer stance than other social media platforms and take more action when its needed.

I'm not sure supporting a weekend blackout for two hours has any real meaning or point to it.

I'm not sure supporting a weekend blackout for two hours has any real meaning or point to it. It’s more of a gesture of solidarity with the EFL and other organisations. One boycott won’t do much but if enough of the football community come together, it sends a clear message that abuse isn’t tolerated.

I'm not sure supporting a weekend blackout for two hours has any real meaning or point to it. The weekend blackout is for unmodderated social media platforms. We are making a gesture. Will it stop dicks being dicks? Nope. But it has at least got some people talking/thinking about it. We felt it was an important thing to at least support in a small way while not inconveniencing our users.

I wasn’t looking forward to this season at all I as zero faith that garner knew what he was doing. But generally yes I look forward to every season.

I like how Rovers did their boycott a bit differently to everybody else, boycotting all matches instead for the past few months hopefully sends out a strong message. 😬
