Honestly this is not a moan. I wouldn’t have created a new thread just for this but... Last January, 1981 states in a one-post thread that was locked about being careful about starting new threads when existing ones are covering the same stuff. I’d have posted this on that thread had it not been locked. It was a perfectly sensible comment from him and you mods I presume.
At the moment we have 4 threads on the front page about transfers. It’s not up to me to decide but would it be a sensible suggestion that all 4 are combined into one thread covering all the transfer threads. Perhaps you’ve had that discussion and decided not to and if that’s the case fair enough. I’m not suggesting any one is better than another and perhaps they might start to cover different stuff but end up being about players leaving or players coming. It’s going to be busy time I expect this summer with various incom8ngs and out goings and just thought it needed saying.
I’m not counting pirate’s Wishlist thread among the 4. Don’t touch that one because it is a great thread to have and be able to refer to! 😉
Thanks for all your time and it’s a great job you. I just thought I would make the suggestion.
UTG!

I don't know why over half the threads on here need creation, especially when the starting subject is really only a statement that falls within the criteria of an existing thread....
Mods can merge threads and move posts, but it is a bit of a tiresome task and it has a tendency to confuse existing threads by sending people backwards to most recently read, and occasionally annoys the thread creator....
There's only one way to solve the issue and that is that users look for a thread to post in rather than start a new one unnecessarily....

Sounds like a moan to me! True though.

I'm glad you have brought it up Wareham as it drives me mad, the constant creation of new threads or bumping of old ones that are older than 6 months with little relevance.
I'll try and get onto some housekeeping tomorrow.

How can you expect to be noticed and liked if your extra-important contribution to the forum is buried away in someone else's thread?
The very thought......

I think if you PMed all of us mods you’d possibly get a different outcome on what everyone’s preferred approach to new thread vs bumping an old one.
But like 1981 is inferring it’s about striking a balance.
For me there’s nothing worse than a bump of a player thread that’s more than a couple of months old.
That said, it’s also annoying when 4 posters post the same thread at the same time, with no discernible difference.
The right balance in my eyes is new threads, so long as one doesn’t exist, for new events and/or for a couple of weeks of inactivity. But that perspective will vary for others I’m sure.
Enthusiasm is a little down at present with everyone on here I think after the season we’ve just faced, not just with moderators, and that probably leads to a little less engagement than there would normally be.

And thats the irony because the more attentive and rational poster you are the more people will respect your opinions (not necessarily agree with them) and the more you'll enjoy the platform....

And we all know who the number 1 culprit of regurgitating old threads is !!

Yeah, a couple of Mods are taking a break and the others that are left have lost the will as the season has gone on.
I seem to remember similar happening in the past.
Im sure the whole forum will pick up again as August draws closer.

It will pick up when we sign a few players, really what is left to talk about after this total disaster of a season that we haven’t already gone over.
