Hah - yep, then did the Knight’s Tale for A Level. I hated Chaucer with a passion . . . Pub quizz alleged fact: the etymology of the verb “to canter” comes from the preferred speed that pilgrims would ride their horses to Canterbury, being more comfortable than a trot or a gallop over a long distance. Every day’s a school day on Gaschat!

We may well regret letting Liam Armstrong go if jedward does get poached. That would just leave us with injury prone veteran Anssi

I thought it was a boast at some time that PL clubs could afford to actually let their fans in for free because the sponsorship was so lucrative? Anyway, did you see the double penalty save made by Matt Macey, ex-Rovers youth signed by Arsenal, in the Scottish Cup Final for Hibs v St Johnstone?

If JW's signed a pro contract I assume whoever is interested in signing him will have to pay a transfer fee rather then just use the EPPP to calculate the compensation we are due?

I've said for a while now, if your not part of the solution you are part of the problem.
With that, I mean all the players that go out on loan each season from Premiership clubs.
We all cry about the pizza trophy but I think there is an issue here that everyone seems to be silent about. We took Macormick on loan from Chelsea quite happily. If there wasn't this outlet for loan players then maybe the bigger clubs couldn't justify the talent swoop so much.

TBF clubs receive some funding to help run their academies. The lowest (cat 4) receive about 100k year (about 2/3 of the cost) from the Prem. The elite academies cost £2m+ per year to run and they are limited as to how many players they are allowed in each age group; so can't stockpile youngsters to the extent that perhaps some assume.
As I've said before, parents don't really want their kids moving away from home, the attraction is the offer of a private education so youngsters stand to gain a better life chances should they fail to have a career as a player.

If there wasn't this outlet for loan players then maybe the bigger clubs couldn't justify the talent swoop so much. Every team seems to have an army of loan players which is taking the water a bit. Id be happy if there was a low cap on the amount of loan players you can have in a season, not just how many you can play at a time.

Villa have apparently signed 30 youngsters from other clubs for their Academy this season, if there are restrictions they can't be that restrictive? As far as private schooling, are they really spending £30K+ per Academy player so they can all attend a private boarding school, as that's the best part of £1m per age group?

I understand the academies are allowed to name up to 30 youngsters per age group. Tends to be the 16+ age range that move location. Lower ages usually continue to live and be schooled in their local area until reaching that age.

Does anyone know how tall he is ? I seem to remember reading that he doesn’t fit the modern goalkeepers trend to be at least 6’2”” Jeds a good mate of mine and we have been best mates for a few years he’s always been a small lad and only started growing when we left school but he’s shot up he’s 6’2 and definitely still growing he’s a class keeper no reason why he can’t be our number 2 at least next season.

Jed Ward signed a professional deal in February. He looks about the same height as Will Puddy, who was ridiculed for his height (5ft11?), right now. Puddy was about 5ft 2 in and that was with a long stud in his boots. Haha I actually had a pint with him at Glastonbury 2017 and can confirm he was about 5ft11 😂
