For me, those 4 signings announced this week have already set in motion a very strong core to a side: Jaak- without doubt one of the best GKs in league 2 Anderton- a captain at this level Kilgour- we know he can do it with experience next to him like Craig was Hughes- a direct Craig replacement Williams- recently part of a L2 promoted side Coutts- a captain at the level above us, wealth of know-how Grant- proved at Plymouth what he is capable of at this level Finley- been there and done it at this level and level above Nicholson- will be player of the season if he stays fit Rodman- ample at this level but would like to see a new signing Hanlan- before he got injured around Christmas time let’s not forget he was our best player. Get him fit and confident and he will thrive.
In my opinion, I think we need a new RW to start instead of Rodman and if we can get in a more proven striker I would be more than happy to see him start ahead of Hanlan. After that, it’s just adding a bit of depth - an attacking midfielder being the priority

It is certainly a good start but I would still like to see a winger and striker bought in to be first choice and a new back up keeper is needed too in my opinion as with Jak going away on international duty and not getting any younger, I don't know if we can rely on Ward too much this soon in his career.

As it stands, we need a back up GK, a back up RB, possibly a back up LB because I’m not sure Tutonda will be here, an attacking midfielder as not sure Westbrooke will be here or even if he is up for it and Barrett doesn’t cut it for me. Striker wise I would loan Daly out and sign someone experienced and possibly a wildcard on loan. A winger to start instead of Rodman and then Rodman and Walker back up sounds good to me

I wonder if we could be looking at Danny Lloyd from Tranmere who has just announced he is leaving after turning down a contract.
I know twitter isn’t anything to go by and they are probably just following each other but Finley, Anderton and JB all follow him and yes he is from Liverpool!!

Hanlan is the worst player i've seen at the Mem. Give it a rest - he scored 8 league goals and won MOTM numerous times before his injury around Christmas. Luke James? ? Seem to remember him being dubbed Taylor’s replacement and he failed to score all season. I could name 10+ players worse than him in the last 5/6 seasons alone

He left around Christmas as I recall and joined Sutton United I think. So he was never Taylor's replacement - that Was Tom Nicholls!

Hanlan is the worst player i've seen at the Mem. Riordon was in a different class. Certainly the worst I have seen at the Gas in 60 years.Hanlan way better than him even though he keeps falling over.Ayunga is an Enigma.Capable of real quality but also mediocrity.

dcr, You obviously havent watched many games then!! Hanlan scored 8 goals before Christmas. How long did it take Nichols to score 8 goals for us?Hanlan had never been a main striker before so was under emmense pressure to score goals especially as nobody else did.He may yet turn out to be a very good signing iof he is played either as a second striker or a winger.

Hanlan is the worst player i've seen at the Mem. You must of been lucky enough to never see Carl Regan play right back.

He arrived in the same pre-season as Matty Taylor, but it didn't really work out for him. Luke James was actually signed on a season long loan from Peterborough in July 2016. We had just won promotion to League One. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2016/july/rovers-sign-luke-james-on-loan/You might also remember that Matty Taylor's contract had expired at that point and we weren't expecting him to sign another one - so Luke was almost certainly intended to be Taylor's replacement.

Are you getting confused with White (Jamie?) who most fans thought would be our conference striker and not Taylor? *Just seen I was beaten to it on this one!

I remember watching him score twice at the Mem for Hartlepool when he was about 18 - I really thought at the time he was heading for great things but I think after a big money move to Peterborough he ruptured his ACL and whilst most players these days make a full recovery he was never the same. A once bright future and one injury has turned him to a conference/league two journeyman.

Hanlan is the worst player i've seen at the Mem. He's definitely not a striker, and he's been low on confidence but that's a huge exaggeration.
