The mystery to me was how he was described as a leader and a natural captain - particularly as none of the management had worked with him before. I am usually tolerant of people when things do not work out but Max has showed a glimpse of why things went so wrong. Lets remember that he was given a substantial pay rise to join the Gas. He has left today and there is no sense of regret that it didnt work out - just some snide comment that it is good to be playing at a "proper place for football". Whilst it is true that he may not have got on with JB - he also failed to successfully deliver for Garner and Tisdale. The only reason that he is being managed by JB is because the team he captained got the 2 previous managers sacked . This was managers who backed him and trusted him to lead their team. The Gillingham press is welcoming him home like some prodigal son and to read his comment you would think that he has been wronged . it is Bristol Rovers who should feel hard done by as they have paid him £150k for captaining a team that got relegated and for personally falling short of giving his best efforts for the cause. He let his team down for heavens sake not the other way round. This raises another question though We constantly read about how important it is to get the right characters in the dressing room so how did we get this one so wrong? What were we doing handing the club captaincy to someone that we didnt know and expecting him to lead an inexperience and young team? Last years team deserved better leadership than they got. When you look at the changes that Michael Appleton made at Lincoln - one of the first was to bring in mature leaders that he had worked with before . JB has now done the same. Max has now gone and good luck to him. Lets get back to rebuilding the team and learn a lesson from this Tommy’s spreadsheet doesn’t measure leadership ability or character. Simple but catastrophic error exacerbated by a manager that was blind to the risk. Let’s not go back there again

The one thing I can’t contemplate about last seasons transfer activity was who signed off on it all and thought it was a good idea? If it was Wael, he’s shown his inexperience in English football by letting Garner assemble his unbalanced, lazy, naive and unmotivated squad of which Ehmer is a prime example. I heard the other day that he was involved in Daly’s departure from the club? Hope Wael takes a step back next season and leaves it to the people that actually know what they are doing. Here you go again! Another dig at Wael. Right this time let's hear your source! We all know that won't be forthcoming so why don't you just bugger off and give us all a rest from your constant bashing of the club's owner. Harrystoke, i w ould suggest its something called delegation. Wael employs a Director of Football . He is the one with the resposibility to sign off on players ability and balance or unbalance of a squad or whether they are lazy or not. I would also suggest that Naivety belongs to those who believe that Wael makes every single decision on a day to day basis

I would say it’s more a case of Guardiola using the same process and not Man City. He is a proven coach whose word is god as opposed to a newbie still wet behind the ears. It doesn’t give out a great signal of decisiveness.

So someone noticed that JB liked it, wouldn’t say it’s unusual tbf the two guys are obviously friends so he would like his tweet about moving club. Then that guy says Barrett can f**k off whilst mentioning Barrett and Barrett noticed it and also gave it a like.
Our fan base 🤦♂️

It'll be very telling to his attitude whether Joey retains him or not. Can't see Joey putting up with his fitness issues if it's poor mentality.

IMO, Max Ehmer was a awful footballer for BRFC and definitely will not be missed; Joey hooked him off the pitch on a couple of occasions, and probably told Max to try and find another club, as he had very little chance of ever playing in our first again. Max apparently played well for the Gills in the past, so going back to the preistfield looks like a good outcome for all those concerned.
