I don't think he was made a scapegoat at all I believe JB seen straight through him and seen that he was not here because he wanted to be. And for ME to come out and say he was happy with his performances just says all you need to know as the majority of them were pathetic injured or not.

You don't think it was weird that Barton pretended that he was dropping him for the rest of the season when the truth was he had a season ending injury requiring surgery?

It shows at the very least, a lack of self awareness and a lack of honesty to own the situation we were in. It’s easy to see why Barton didn’t consider him as captain material.

Aah! Poor Max. So many things to say about the article. He was in continual contact with Steve Evans? And other comments. Blimey, talk about feeling sorry for himself. And were it about ability I’d be more sympathetic but it was the lack of effort. He’s gone thankfully and I suspect those in football will read between the lines and he’ll have lost a lot of respect. Lets move on. UTG!

My interpretation of his comments are
1.He has read this forum ! 2.If Gillingham is a proper place to play then North Bristol is not 3.The old chestnut of blaming an injury which he didn't have when he first came and was still crap 4.He only came for the money 5.Absolutely no interest in playing for this club at all, continual contact with Evans offerrs some confirmation of his lack of interest. 6. Fair play he took our pants down

I still dont understand his 'proper place to play football' comment. I mean, as opposed to what?

LJG, I dont recall JB ever dropping him. He was injured and took the choice to take an operation after cricism which was justified for his poor performances. Glad to see the back of him which is a shame because I was excited when he signed.

Gillingham is a shithole I was just unable to fathom his logic in saying it

When did Barton pretend to drop him as I don't recall that? The week before Barton did the presser announcing he was out for the season injured he did a post match calling him out and implying he wouldn't be picked again for the season.

Glad to see the back of him which is a shame because I was excited when he signed. That's obviously revisionist and untrue. Barton slated Ehmer post match the week before he announced he was out for the season injured. That post match strongly implied he wouldn't be picked again. I can't be bothered to go back and listen to any more of Barton's whinging sh** from the end of last season but maybe it was the same one as the "I wouldn't have any of these players at Fleetwood" one.

Ehmer making excuses for being sh** all season. The performance against Accrington away possibly the worst of the lot and most others weren't much better.

It's pretty clear from what Barton said Ehmer and him had issues going back to their time together at QPR.

Just read the Bristol Live article, assuming Ehmer's telling the truth then it does seem he was made the scapegoat as he was always going to have his op and must have been trying to play whilst injured, although we were just as poor after he had his op!

“At the end of the day it wasn’t my No.1 option to leave Gillingham at all but it was something for my family, for my kids, I had to go, but I’m delighted to come back."
Assuming he means by those comments we made him an offer to good to turn down, then how much did we offer him, 25%, or even 5%, more than Gillingham etc were prepared to offer him? i thought Knowall claims we have no money?
