I know, it's really early on and then transfer window has just opened, but what else do we need?
We have 5 new players so far, and they are pretty decent. All apart from 1 Taylor, have really good experience in the League 2.
So, what do you guys feel, we still need? Personally I think we need at least another 7 players. That's 2 new strikers, 2 new wingers, 1 new right back to put pressure on Williams, as I am really not not convinced with him, 1 new left back, to add competition for Anderton, and 1 new backup GK.
I can't for the life of me, think we will get another 7 players, but what do you guys think?

Me personally I think we will get those 7/8 players that are needed, added to our squad as Wael has put his money where his heart is and him and JB have been able to move 3 of the wasters from last season that Ben Garner signed a year ago and I except there will more moved on.They have also signed 4 well known L2 players, and a high regarded loan player, I would say a decent start.
I think Wael means business in trying for a promotion season, and in fairness he put a very good budget into us last season but we had the worst manager in our history spending in.
As I said a decent start, but we need the attacking side improve d the most and with out any quality there we will not go up.

I’d personally like us to sign:
1x Goalkeeper. 1x Left Back. 1x Right Back. 1x Centre Back. (Assuming Harries is on his way) 1x Central Midfielder. 1x Winger. 1x Attacking Midfielder. 2x Strikers.
That’s 9 players yet to sign. Perhaps we’ll only end up signing one more midfielder instead of two, but the bottom line is plenty of business still to be done this window despite already making 5 signings.
Bringing in competent strikers that offer us more of a threat will be top of JB’s priorities. On paper the team we have now might do alright in League Two, but only with goal scorers will we get near to the playoff places.
Going to end up with an entirely different side to start the season with for the second season in a row, but after the last season and all the departures it has entailed, it is going to be necessary. Still hope we can keep a core of Jaakkola, Nicholson, Kilgour and maybe Grant or Rodman. Think it’s good to have some kind of continuity.

A first choice striker is the biggest priority by far - someone who plays down the middle not in the wider attacking positions.
I’d love to know who JB is looking at as there are hardly any around that I know of - not when you factor in that fans demand ‘proven goal scorer’ at this level.
My hunch would be two coming in - one an experienced striker coming towards the end of their career and a younger one we take a bit more of a punt on without a goal scoring pedigree at this level but someone we can develop in the hope of being another JCH, Roberts, Ellington, etc….

They would, if they have the quality we need, transform this squad. I get the higher numbers but feel that if we get the two up front the players we have become more effective given what we’ve already signed. Depending on Jaakkola we may need another keeper, although I hope Ward is given a chance to shine. Although I think we’ll go with what we’ve got there and sign a loan keeper if needed. I wonder if JB has been allowed to reshape this squad and sign a few on the understanding that he needs to shift what’s there out before others come in, as has happened this week. We surely can’t just keep adding players to an already large squad. UTG!

I have to say, seeing on fb just now that our friendly with Melksham is in 12 days is a bit concerning.
A long way to go but we are far from putting a squad together that can compete in L2. Expecting a busy couple of weeks in the transfer front

As a squad i would prefer 11 of the best players we can afford for specific positions in the first team. Then i would like 6 good utility players, maybe not good enough to tie down one position as their own but able to adequately perform in 2 or 3 roles. The rest of the squad can then be young players Ready to take their oportunity when the need arises. Loans in january can fill any gaps caused by injury.
For example. So im happy with Anssi in goal with ward on the bench. An emergency loan keeper can come in should they be needed.

Broadly agree with the OP but we will need more if players go out of course.
I think even two strikers might leave me feeling nervous!
An extra CB may be a decent shout regardless.

I still feel we need another central midfielder or two, however if we fail to move on Westbrooke we will still need another central midfielder or two.

A reserve GK, unless feel the young load is good enough. 1 CB 1 CDM 2 wide players. 2 strikers - an absolute must!!
At least 7.
I don't know enough about the 5 already Brought in to see where they fit.
Our team so poor last year I don't trust many of them to put a shift in.
I hope to see squad in the building before first game of the seaon

I think that’s a good idea The mistake we seem to consistently make is having too much mediocrity either on the bench or not even figuring in the squad at all. Create a strong first 11, with sufficient cover especially in the striker department. We have some good players coming through and should aim to have them as cover for injuries or suspensions. If we ever start the season with more left backs than strikers I’ll go mentally insane.

I can go with that set up, first choice starting eleven with good utility players and U23s on the bench. The ideal would be two for every position, but short of that the above would work. Looking at the current squad, I would split the need into starting XI which I think we need 3 first choice forward players, probably 1 creative midfielder and two strikers. Add to that a handful of others to build in flexibility, competition and cover, possibly another 2-4 including full backs and GK, but at a lower priority.

Agree in part but actually think you need quality on the bench to keep the starting 11 on their toes.

Torquay GK has looked good, unlucky to not be winning side. Scored equaliser and saved a couple penalties.

Didn't JB say he wanted the squad signed for the start of pre season training? If so we should see some new faces in the building this week
