Jonah Ayunga Age 24 League games 20 goals 2. goal ratio 1/10 Aaron Collins Age 24 League games 82 goals 14. goal ratio 1/6 Brandon Hanlan Age 24 League games 145 goals 20. goal ratio 1/7 Harvey Saunders Age 24 League games 29 goals 3. goal ratio 1/10
So what do you think, a strong line up of strikers? Age is certainly on their side if nothing else. Anyone see a 15-20 goal a season player there? Hanlan looks the best? but we all saw him play last season Who will Barton pick, can't see him playing all four at best it's two of them but which two?

No one saw a 30 goal season for Paul Mullin last season. Prior to that season he scored an average of 8 goals a year.

Well, they are all coming into their better years as strikers at 24, so the hope is there that at least one of them will find their form and step up to the plate this season.
Would still like an experienced striker to come in, just to provide a bit of nous and dependability.

Wouldn't mind one more experienced striker who has a good record, now in early 30s. But will be hard enough giving 4 players all time.

Pretty sure our resident Stats-man can and probably already has put together stats that are more representative of their performances as strikers in respect of goals per minutes on the pitch in that role. Saunders first two appearances for Fleetwood were for thirteen minutes and two minutes. Yet both of these are represented as one game here. Ayunga too was a sub a lot of the time. Neither Collins nor Hanlan have been out and out strikers in their careers so a goals per game ratio is not representative of what they do as a central striker over a prolonged period of time. In fact Hanlan’s ratio is quite good for a wideman and compares favourably with Isgrove, Nicholson and young Thomas we were linked with. Collins was forced to be the main striker at FGR at the end of the season when Matt was injured and his ratio was decent then. Saunders did well until Fleetwood chose to rely on their experienced strikers and he was forced to feed off scraps. Hanlan adapted reasonably well to the central role initially, then did less well playing through injury and lost confidence towards the end of the season. Ayunga was injured before he really got going, stuttered upon his return and wasn’t experienced enough to pull himself and us out of the hole that had been dug. A been there done that character in training alongside these four could turn any one of them into a success story this season.

Saunders scored eight in 29 games last season, across all competitions, but had enjoyed an impressive start for the Cod Army, with all of his strikes coming in the first nine games. Of those games, only nine were starts and his minutes per goal in League One was an impressive 167. - source Bristol Post.

A year left on his contract at Luton and in May this year the Luton Manager says he is looking forward to him pushing on next season in the Championship. I would suggest that shows there is no chance whatsoever of him dropping two divisions to join the likes of us.

JCH and Matty Taylor both had fantastic scoring records before joining us.

JCH and Matty Taylor both had fantastic scoring records before joining us. Matty Taylor 28 goals in 4 years before joining us. JCH 29 goals in 7 years before joining us. Hardly fantastic records.

Taylor scored 6 goals in 7 games whilst on loan at Chester before he joined us, I sense "richard" was joking but actually he was right about Taylor. As far as our strike force, as Barton confirmed the four players mentioned in the OP will be our striker force this season, as I wouldn't be surprised if Ayunga and/or Hanlan departed, given Williams departed today.

Wasn’t Hanlan on course for 20 goals at one point until he badly tailed off in the second half of the season?

It doesn’t jump out as being a great strike force but like others have said, let’s see the lads play first as we have had plenty of players join us without stand out records who have gone on to do great things. The thing that does strike me though is that two of these four have played the majority of their careers as widemen/attacking players and the other two, who are recognised as strikers have played mainly non league. I think we still need an experienced striker to be added to the group. Some may think I’m mad but I can see Brandon being our 20 goal striker this season! I really hope we can add this young lad from Barnsley or someone of similar quality to our wide options alongside Nicholson, Rodman and Walker to really help this forward line achieve the required amount of goals

Still think we are lacking another 'number 9' option.

Probably no chance I agree but at 32 he has only had two seasons in the Championship playing 27 games and scored no goals. Really needs to move but would get better offers in L1 I would imagine.

Still think there’s probably 1 more to come in. Just my thoughts, not itk or anything.
It’s a long season and a couple of injuries can make life very difficult as we found out last season.

Remember when Marty Taylor was just a sh*t winger from FGR and Jamie White was going to fire us back into the football league?
