BH just appeared to stop shooting . If you dont shoot you simply wont score. Confidence ? Bad decision making ? Bad direction from coaches ?
He certainly was often in a position to shoot but didnt.
Needs to set himself targets of 3 shots per half. ( most likely wont get that amount of chances but its a target) If he has 6 shots a game next season he will score record breaking numbers of goals.

I’d say it’s a mixture of all 3, plus being only 70% fit and having to play through injuries and no creation or service around him. Hanlan was being played as a striker under Garner with a licence to roam and take on defenders along with Nicholson and Daly. Then he became a target man under Tisdale who played hoofball and by the time Barton came in, Daly and Nicholson were broke, Hanlan was half broke physically and mentally and we ran out of support for him because Tisdale chased the shadow of Stockley for 6 weeks rather than actually getting some bodies in the building that would have helped out. Laying blame on Hanlan is wrong IMO. We mismanaged the recruitment in the summer by not getting in 4 strikers, one of them a proven target man and Tisdale mismanaged it in Jan by not getting it sorted soon enough.

We ran him into the ground mid-season when he was our only fit striker and he was basically a blunt object for the last few months but never gave up. There’s reason to keep faith in him. We were embarrassingly weak at the back all last season. I can’t ever remember a season with so many individual defensive errors. Sides knew they could bully us. This season promises to be different. Whether we will have enough for a promotion challenge I’m not sure.

A fit and confident Hanlan with decent support and service that all good strikers need, will be too much for a lot of League 2 defences to handle. Let's hope that pans out.

And he didn't create anything for anyone else. And he didn't take the heat off our back 4. If we're relying on him to make a push back to Lg1 I can't see anything other than disappointment.

But hopefully we won’t be!! The reason we were all disappointed was because as a unit the strikers weren’t good enough. Or experienced enough. Hanlan was expected to score the goals because he was the only one we had that looked remotely like he might score The problems of last season were clear from the off.... hopefully Barton signs at least one more striker and BH can be part of an exciting front 3 Give him a chance Bags, as I said I’ll be cheering him on from the off, the last thing any player needs is baggage and criticism once we return. UTG

Are you for real? It's called professionalism. If players cant accept that criticism is part of the game they shouldn't be professional footballers. Yeah, I'm for real. I do wonder about some of the mindless comments on forums though.. I'm not debating who can accept criticism. The point is that this is a 'fans forum' and some of our fans can be very agricultural in their assessment of our players...who we are supposed to erm, support. Go for it. But don't weep when players leave and give us the finger. Quite what you expect this forum to be like of after being relegated 5 points adrift from anyone else with a decent budget is anyone's guess, but you do you. A player who chucks himself on the floor constantly isnt going to get much sympathy anywhere

We actually have 'fans' that abuse players at the game! It's moronic.

When you have someone out of form and diving that's asking for trouble. Maybe you should take in a few non-Rovers games and you will realise that there are far worse fan bases out there for slagging off players. Doesnt make it right of course but will show thats football these days.

Relegated by 10 points, 5 points adrift. It was even worse than you remember 😉

Tom Nicholls falls over = must be stronger. Hanlan falls over = must be stronger. JCH falls over = conned the ref again.
Summary of comments at games etc.
Funny old game.

Exactly. They are lucky we were not in the stadium as the fans wouldn't have let them get away with a lot of it.

Amazing how a crap season turns things on their head. There was a time opponents didn't like playing at the Mem because the atmosphere was hostile. Now it's our players who are frightened playing in front of us. During last season, they were lucky to be playing at an empty Mem. There will be scant sympathy next season.

That worked out well didn't it? - no pressure of the fans and they still f**ed it.

There are loads of reasons why they were garbage last season - most of which are well documented on this forum.
I'm seriously expecting a considerable improvement this season. All I want is a traditional Rovers team battling for every game and making the home fans proud. Is that really too much to ask?

I would have been ok with relegation last season if I saw some battle like other clubs did, even at the very end. Alas we went down without a whimper and the games passed many of them by. That wouldnt have happened with fans there.

Maybe JCH did con refs but that was from being clever. Look at Vardy. Knocks the ball somewhere that the defender- & possibly himself - was never going to get and goes over the defenders leg. Seen it a few times at the euros. Brandon and Nichols just get knocked off the ball. I've seen a few clips of Nichols this past year and he's got a bit more clever. Hopefully Brandon can be a bit more streetwise next season
