Matt Gill. Thought he was an intelligent player who regularly made passes for players to run onto and they never made the run into space. Probably part of the wrong team as he was criticised for not being a battler. Great player but in the wrong team at the wrong time. My dad and grandad named him the crab, always going sideways apparently, I actually thought he was a great player on the ball, very rarely gave it away just lacked that combativeness like you said I kept hearing that sideways stuff too but you can only pass forwards if someone is there! In another team he would have been brilliant!

I always felt that there were some good individuals in that squad but it was a totally unbalanced team so each individual was sh** and didn’t get to play to their strengths.

Lee Archer seemed to divide opinion but for a year or two i thought he was very good, especially when supplying crosses for a Stewart and Taylor.
Agree with whoever mentioned Justin Skinner earlier too.

Matt Harrold seemed to be loathed by many on the forums. For me he was successful at Rovers, but a victim of circumstance in a team that simply chose to lump the ball up to him at every opportunity. I see he's on the coaching staff at Orient so we'll see him back at the Mem this season.

Ah, a thread about our "most naturally gifted players" of yesteryear.
Moussa Daganogo should've been offered a further three year deal and Andy Spring could still do a job for us in League Two.
That the sort of thing we're looking for?

Jeff Hughes
A real classy player who scored a few crackers for us, yet didn’t help himself at all with his comments during the first interview. There was no coming back from that in the eyes of most Gasheads.

Who was the Italian player, who seemed to try hard but failed.
Edit - Found him Michele Di Piedi.

Ellis divided us. I thought he was a good player and a great lad. You are right ,some fans would not cut him any slack, but i thought he was a tremendous asset to have on board both on and off the pitch, great positive attitude in the dressing room and as well as his efforts up front he was at times our best defender!
