But your problem is that if the one up front isnt working then your options are extremely limited. And 99% of the time with 4 strikers in the squad we’d have the option of playing 2 of them up top together. We’ve just been very unfortunate that 3 are out at the start of the season. You could always argue we need more, if we had 6 strikers and 5 were out at the same time you could argue we need another, but in reality that’s not plausible. I think we’ve just got to consider ourselves unlucky that we have a few not available at the minute, we haven’t just got a bottomless budget to keep adding and adding. I think the squad we have at the minute is the best we’ve had for a long time and in a league below the one we’ve been playing in for the last few years. One game doesn’t make a season!

In fairness if you plan to play a formation with only one striker then I think having 4 options is ample competition and depth for that one place. You wouldn’t see many teams in the Prem having more than that let alone League 2. Whether those 4 have got the quality is a different question. Having 3 out of 4 options unavailable is very unfortunate timing at any stage, but especially for the first day of a new season. I'm not saying you're wrong, but isn't this exactly where we started last season for which Garner/Widdrington have been hammered? We had Hanlan, Daly, Ayunga and Mitchell-Lawson and had a system with one striker in it (3-4-3 with the extra forwards being wingers or attacking midfielders like Nicholson/Rodman/Koiki/Hargreaves/Walker/Oztumer)
