Point one. Because he is innocent until proven guilty and his wifes denial is good enough for me. Point two. You posted it and Antonio and to a lesser extent twerton agreed with you. That makes more than one when I do the maths. Topper is wrong in your opinion, not mine. Point three. You have clearly found him guilty on this thread and many other threads on here. Whatever way you say it you are clearly in the Barton out camp. I am not,so I will leave it at that and refrain from posting on this thread. I’ve been away for a few days. What a thread this is. Very sensible, reasoned points by Bideford. Gaschat will be improved when the reasonable take back control of this forum from the few who “troll along” with their comments on many threads. The majority can make this place better if we wanted too. Lets get this straight fella Those that don't want Barton as our manager are not Trolls, still support the club, still go to games and are still entitled to their opinion

Record recently much better. What are you to say when the record improves and the future is bright? Get on board, man. You might enjoy the ride. Well obviously if the record improves I will say well done Joey and the team, of course, and admit I was wrong. Just like almost all the other Barton 'haters', I expect. And presumably if he is a disaster, a disaster some of us predicted, you'll be on here next season bigging up the new manager and saying the previous season's manager was a loser. As you have before. You will be pleased to know, agree with all of this. You are right about the future. I love bigging things up. I’ve been right a few times, wrong many times. Everyone I enjoyed the journey though. We both, of course, hope for the best.

A couple of points I’d like to make….
1. Against Crawley we defended well and apart from a 20min spell at the start of the second half we didn’t perform well - it was very disjointed. But we did have some chances and so did Crawley… Do I think Crawley deserved to win instead of us? No … in my eyes a draw would have been a fair result. However, every player put a 100% effort in and put their bodies on the line to get the clean sheet and win the match. That wasn’t the case last season and we would have lost that game last season.
2. Whilst there hasn’t been consistency in performances this season, there have been spells within games where we have played and looked good. To me this is to be expected with the huge turnover of players we had, the Covid disrupted pre-season and the players we’ve had out injured who are now coming back. However, results over the last 5 games have improved and we are unbeaten in 3 which again is something we could say last season
3. Lastly, please can someone explain why every single thread has to turn into a tit for tat Barton debate? It is ruining this place… No one knows the reasons behind why Clint left and also no one knows what happened with JB and his wife. He has not been given a restriction order stopping him from being with her so whatever happened the Police / CPS can’t think she is at threat of domestic abuse or anything otherwise a restraining order would have been put in place. Now I’m not saying JB is innocent or that he is guilty and irrespective of the court case that will only say in the eyes of the law whether he was deemed guilty or not of the offence, not what actually happened. However, in this country that is the only method we really have of determining innocence or not so it’s the best we can go with. The constant speculation, counter rumours and to be frank childish tit for tat name calling and righteousness attitudes portrayed by both sides of the fence is really destroying this place, destroying the sanctuary it provided from life’s everyday challenges and stresses and just making this a continuous argumentative playground.
4. I know people will say don’t comment or read but it is practically impossible to not do so when 99% of threads just turn into JB slanging matches (and yes I know I am guilty of having been in them too).
5. I did a test to see if we could do a thread that would be difficult to move into a JB debate - player predictions and to see what would happen…. As I expected, it had no real air time, no real comments or anything and just died before it really started. It wasn’t the most exciting thread but just proved to me that people on here appear more interested in just arguing rather than anything else…
6. We are all fans of the club in my eyes and whether you want JB out or whether you are willing to give him time / benefit it doesn’t matter. We all want what’s best for the club
7. Whatever happened to respect? We can all have different viewpoints and no ones view is better than anyone else’s. Please can we respect each other ??

Name one Rovers player that didn't put in a performance Saturday. Thought Collins was pretty anonymous, but I suppose it doesn't help when all you have to deal with is long balls pumped up in his general direction for 45 minutes. It's even more worrying then if they all put in "performances", but were still outplayed with less of the ball and less chances created by a team that had conceded 6 goals in two of their previous three games. As I said, against a better side we would have been punished and lost that game. So 1 player, maybe, bùt other than 110% effort from all the squad, a change in tactics, few substitutions, a great goal, a clean sheet, we can think ourselves fortunate? Good one.

Am I reading this right? Anyone who posts against JB is a waster who is not a real supporter?
Charming!
It's quite bizarre. Presumably in Steve's world, and the world of many others, criticising the manager is a heinous crime. Based on the fact JB has about the worst record of any of our managers, we'd never have sacked anyone, ever. Even Buckle and McGhee's stats were far superior to Joey's. What frustrates me is that when you look at all the bad things that JB has done throughout his playing/managerial career (that we know of), any criticism towards his on or off field stuff is not allowed and those who dare criticise him are wasters and not real fans of the club. Bare in mind those who are wasters and not real fans were gasheads before JB arrived and will be gasheads long after JB has gone but because they have a different opinion to some others, they are treated as wasters and not real fans. Bizarre is an understatement.

As I said, against a better side we would have been punished and lost that game. Yeah I was happy enough with the result. Given our experience last season it was nice to hold onto an "undeserved" 1-0 victory. So many times we have gifted the opposition goals and made it much harder for ourselves. Whether our win was down to our players, tactics, luck or Crawley being poor (or all of the above); who knows? But I doubt many other teams in the league would have seen that game (or any other this season) and thought they would have too much to fear (yet). I remember a few people banging on about how we would beat anyone in the league if we played like we did against Oldham (who were absolutely AWFUL by the way). We then got immediately PUMPED by a team who hadn't scored yet this season and then failed to beat Barrow (who had 10 men!) Obviously I hope our team gels into the promotion contenders JB has promised.. but I am certainly not seeing anything to suggest we will be anything from lower mid-table so far.... Fingers crossed we can put in a good performance and get a result Saturday.. find a settled side and go on a decent run (and beat Swindon, of course )

But if you think that constitutes a "good performance" so be it. Let's just hope the players aren't also deluding themselves and think it was a good performance, only to then get their pants pulled down again vs Hartlepool in a similar fashion to the Exeter shambles after Oldham.

Fed up with discussing it. Enjoy your misery.

It's a shame we can't play teams so profligate in front of goal more often, or Cheltenham's kids, we might actually see more genuinely "good performances" then.

CH has just started studying for his Pro coaching badge. Maybe that had something to do with his leaving. Who knows. Not sure how that can be classed as the "family issues" reason given by the club unless his wife is teaching him. We're all part of just one big football family.

Clearly travel wasn’t a factor in his ‘family issues’ if as the BEP article suggests he’s based in Birkenhead (Bristol 190 miles away; Hartlepool 170 miles away). I think most people were able to read between the lines of why he left. It will all come out later in the year. Am I the only person who still has no idea why he left, apart from the reason given in the club statement of course?

I just don’t know. This thread is made up of one fact: CH “has left the club due to personal reasons.” Everything else is presumption and assumption made from whatever pov people have about JB, not CH. It’s a forum so lots of different opinions, so no difference there then. I’ll read but not post. UTG!

We are in danger of getting what we wish for on this forum. There are so many now that will read but just will not post anymore. Soon it will just be the three or four chatting to themselves with the rest watching and eventually not even watching. We really can do better. This forum will die on its feet unless we get a grip. I guess winning matches will help. We are just in a few bad habits, that need breaking.

I’ll have a pint of what you drank please mate? Through the we were awful and lucky to get anything from the game Sorry, but I saw a great effort by all, chased everything, won everything, scored, and won. Maybe you're tipple is Champagne and you should stick to watching the Premiership? Maybe you shouldn’t be so rude? I don’t want premiership football. Effort yep I can’t fault that. Quality wise we were dire and unlucky to not lose to a team who have conceded 6 twice this year. If that’s what you think is good then fair enough. Me personally, I want better

I post plenty rich, some may say too much! But I won’t post on this topic because I have nothing to add to what has been said. I only know that CH has left. I could make assumptions as to why but choose not to. I said elsewhere that I love your optimism and I’ll buy a ticket for your bus but tbh you’re beginning to preach at me now about how I should do things. And that’s never good. Accept that this is a forum with a range of views expressed in many ways, some I like, some I don’t. But that’s the way it is. And let’s face it rich this forum was never completely representative of the fan base in that if the people who posted at its height, about 200/300 (?) was no more representative of the 6000/7000 regular attendees than the 40/50 you say we may go down to. And I suspect that the reason for the drop may be the results over a two year period rather than what and how people post on here. Win and people will come back. UTG!
