Really? That's poor for an opening home game of the season. Maybe Covid has put a few people off.

I was surprised when I saw the attendance. Felt busier than that. I know Stevenage won't have helped, but it's a bit disappointing

I think COVID will have an effect, crowds will be determined by results, don’t be surprised if we soon return to crowds of 5,000, a lot of fans are upset at the way the club is being run and League 2 football isn’t an attractive proposition to those who might go to say 10-15 games a season ( like me) I watched EFL goals on quest today with Holloway as a guest. Noticeable how physical it looked, and Olly looking downbeat as the facts of our recent ‘free fall’ were discussed. Our ground also fits in with most of the other grounds in the division. Looks a right dump. Going to be hard to tempt fans back which I didn’t think would be an issue after so long without football Maybe people have found the torture of following every week and the constant drivel on offer can be offset by other things on a Saturday afternoon??

Pretty sure Covid is still putting some people off going to large gatherings, think 7000 + was decent considering.

It felt more like 8.5k. I guess having some areas of the ground still locked off makes a huge difference.
One thing I found surprising was how much older everyone around me looked, and how few youngsters there seemed to be. Are they getting older too or are families staying away? Really need to get more youngsters in.
In the warmup was taken aback at how bare the south tent looked. I hope this is more to do with people taking precautions than evidence of us having lost a lot of supporters.

I’m hoping a couple of wins will sort the low(ish) attendance but like others have said , perhaps Covid is having an impact on supporters too worried about attending and there is also the issue with being back in league two which isn’t as glamorous and the other elephant in the room , Joey Barton , I’m also assuming that some fans are not attending as they don’t like him being in charge?

Another reason is people not at football for 18 months and not missing it

Another reason is people not at football for 18 months and not missing it Yeah. Going to football is a habit and we were all forced to break that habit for a long time. Some people will have found other/better things to do with their Saturday’s during that time (which applies to every other club too, not just us).

Odear Holloway again, who left the club with 40 plus players on big bucks I never went yesterday as I only had my first jab this morning..As someone who had Covid in late November and December last year, and ended up in southmead being unable to breathe for 3 day I can understand some people's worries.I only didn't go yesterday because of not being jabbed up rather than worry of Covid tho.

Thank you, seems so difficult to find official attendances these days Agree. Sky Sports have them on their results page yesterday. You need to click on the score to see the details for each game including attendance. www.skysports.com/league-2

Was that 7077 that turned up or 7077 tickets that were bought? (including season tickets)
I know a couple that had tickets but did not go and I believe I saw a story or two on here about fans having tickets but Covid prevented them from attending?

Bradford 17,600 showing that initiatives can work and Swindon fans showing their support of their new regime with 9,500

Covid might have put a few off (not convinced that many) but for me it illustrates the mood around the club currently. Under different circumstances we would have been pushing around the 10k mark.

Less than 7,000 gasheads attending the first home league game of the season and the first opportunity to attend in 18 months is disappointing.
