Worst midfielder to ever play in the quarters. Only compliment I can give him is he turned up for kick off Silly statement. I can immediately think of two worse midfield players from the current squad. not really for his so called talent. He cant take a set piece, tackle, head and mark. All round waste of salary from the moment he put pen to paper. Yes he would look good in a winning team and so would I. The players we need are the ones that get us winning and he is not that player

I’d rather have him in the line up than Liddle or Hargreaves, but that’s not saying much
He’s probably ok in a team brimming with confidence and with strikers who know how to score
We have neither
He’s one of the top earners, so money could be spent on replacing him, but my worry is we have no-one in the squad that I would call a real creative spark in the middle?
I’d be looking to off load Barrett, Liddle (loan), Hargreaves, and possibly Mehew (Loan) first, we have an awful lot of mediocrity in there.
At this rate we will have an entire midfield moulded in the shape of the manager himself
What was it he said in that documentary?
‘Players just gave me the ball to pass it to someone better….. that’s all I did….’
Unfortunately we don’t have anyone good to pass it to!!

I am gutted it never worked out for Zain, no doubt he has a lot of talent and has showed it at times but his set pieces were awful, he was non existent when it comes to making a tackle and at times last season it felt like he might as well not be in the middle of the field where he had such little impact.
Reminds me a bit of Charlie Colkett who ended up going abroad to play as he was bit lightweight, Westbrooke has it in his locker and im sure will show it at his next club.
It just never worked out at rovers.

Agreed. How Hargreaves stayed on the pitch on Saturday I’ll never know. 3 at the back has not served us well this past 18 months so I don’t know why we are persisting with it. I’d quite happily let harries leave too.

Shame it hasn't worked out for him. On paper good player, if he linked up with players who could score goals I'm sure we would be raving about number of assists.

When Finley went off on Saturday we had absolutely 0 creativity in the midfield. Westbrooke has that creativity. No, he doesn’t put himself about like an Ogogo or Sinclair, that’s not the type of player he is. If we let him go and don’t bring in a striker/another CAM with the money then it will be a huge mistake IMO.

Definitely best for both parties if Westbrooke moves on. Probably been the biggest disappointment of all our signings last summer. Supposed to be a major coup but has very little impact when he plays and moments of quality have been few and far between. Exactly. He has been a poor signing. Good he’s going. Joey continues to clear out squad players who make no impact. This is very negative and backwards looking.

Yeah a “number 8” if you will? Would make an approach to Lincoln for Max Sanders. perhaps involve him with the hanlan deal?

Agreed, makes sense for both parties. I have a funny feeling that both Westbrooke and Hanlan will leave and be a success elsewhere, leaving us scratching our heads as to why they couldn't perform to the same level for us. I have a frightening feeling that if no one is willing to match their salary they will stay ! Bennett mark 2 ? 😒

Hargreaves im not convonced is good enough to be starting every week.
But I do imagine we will a see midfield of Coutts, Grant and Finley being the regulars. Nicholson and another wide player I would hope.
I still think another creative midfielder and a striker should be brought in. Surely there are high performing players in league 2 and conference we could offer abit of money for.

Well I called this last week along with Hanlan who is fit but wont play.
I cannot see many clubs wanting to pay a fee for him so it will simply be one off the wage bill. Doesnt tackle , dosent head the ball , rarely completes a cross even from dead ball situations. Wont miss him for sure.
Hoping we have five or six on their way in the next two weeks ...

If that is the case then probably a good chance a move back to league one could happen for him?

Is Dan Crowley still free agent? Was close to a move to Cheltenham but the deal fell through. 'Obviously we've had Dan in last week and we were close to a deal, but the agent has moved the posts a little bit and me and Micky (Moore) basically feel it isn't the right deal. We have both moved on, shaken hands and moved on.' Does that show this club won't be held to ransom? It wasn't a case of being held to ransom, but you think you are close to a deal and agents try and squeak a little bit more and we have to try and assess is it worth that. Between me and Micky, we decided no.'

Worst midfielder to ever play in the quarters. Only compliment I can give him is he turned up for kick off I think you have just proved that you are completely lacking in good judgement. Westbrook was brought in by BG I believe to play in a certain style of football. PT and JB are not interested in that style and so ZW did not fit in well. Zain is a good footballer who will do well at a club who want to play good football.
