My first ever start to a match day thread and hopefully not jinxed it. They have not had the best of starts with no win in 3 but have yet to concede. Not a happy hunting ground for us regardless if we are playing well as stats suggest.
22 defeats 14 draws and 10 wins in all competitions.
We have only won once in our last 10 visits (back in 2012). I couldn’t get a gas ticket so have bought an Exeter one next to the Gas fans.
Going for a 2-1 win based on our first half showing last week v Oldham but would settle for draw. COYB

Positive for this after the midweek result, feel like we might have turned a corner and with the likes of Finley, Collins and Nicholson back and getting match fitness we’re only getting stronger.
Safe journey to those that travel and good luck Lympstone on your first match day thread! COYB.

1 - 3 to Rovers. My first away game since forever, so hoping for a memorable one. Rodman to score one of the goals.

We should have won there in 2010, 2-1 up Vs 10 men before a late penalty and were robbed back in 2015/16 with the most undeserved equaliser with the last kick, after we battered them for 96mins.
We will put that right today.

Team for today, presuming Nicholson and Pitman not fit to start? I’ll go:
Belshaw
Anderton Hughes Grant
Anderson Coutts Finley Rodman
Thomas Collins Saunders

Wish I was going. Was a student in Exeter so would be interested to see how it’s changed in and around the stadium.
0-1 gas.

Thunderstorms forecast for Exeter this afternoon. Probably be called off or abandoned for safety reasons.

Tougher game than Tues IMO as Exeter are a decent side but in transition - a bit like us… they appear defensively sound but are struggling to score… I think they will also be smarting from not winning yet this season….. However, our confidence from our midweek win plus our fantastic vocal away support and further gelling of our team through having more time playing together should see us through….. so I’m going for a 2-0 win - Collins and Thomas to score….

Assuming no more injuries (anderson?) i'd go with the same starting line up with Coutts, Nicholson and Pitman (and Jaak if fit) only on the bench. Agree Grant could play in a back 3 but i think he is best as CDM with a Finley type alongside him. Will have to make way for Coutts I guess, but deserves his place.
1-0 Gas (Collins 1st half)
