Ok, this has turned into more than a Matchday Thread and it's getting nasty.
Lock it.

Total rubbish. None of those examples are capable of being libel. Wrong - I surprised you’ve said that. So you consider that none of those comments are defamatory statements of character - for which you can be sued - fact. Not quite. A defamation claim isn't an action to tell off mean people for saying nasty things about you. Defamation is a tortious act which causes loss to the subject. So the prospects of success would be measured against the liklihood that Joey's reputation would be damaged by those comments to such a degree that he would suffer a measurable loss because of them. The principal defences to a defamation claim are: 1. Fair comment - that it is true; and 2. Opinion - that the speaker thinks it is true. No one is going to see the words "clown" or "loud mouth" written on a football forum and refuse him work as a consequence. There's no damage to his reputation. There's no defamation. Even if there were the defence of opinion is readily available.

No wonder this forum has gone downhill in recent times when the likes of you who only joined the forum earlier this year post what you do. lol at you trying to assume the moral highground after the last 48 hours. You don't get to decide who posts what I'm afraid. Who is trying to decide who posts what? Is it not the case that virtually everyone on here would like opinions to be shared respectfully? Why is it that nearly everyone else can post in an appropriate manner but a very small minority feel the need to deliberately use inflammatory language and tone towards fellow supporters with the obvious intent of provoking a reaction? Whether posters want JB out, want JB to stay long term or anywhere in between then they are rightly free to post and voice their opinions. Nobody wants to silence certain views points but surely everyone on here would like some degree of decorum and avoid so many threads turning toxic?

I can’t believe how many times the mods including myself have written similar as what I will write below but here we go again.
It’s always hard to moderate what crosses the natural line. Which is why all the mods discuss taking any action before we delete posts, speak to people in PM or in the worse case, ban someone.
The only time that won’t happen is if there fragrant disregard for the house rules or what is decent.
Personalities and opinions will always clash on here as they will in real life except in here, some will type what they will never say to someone’s face and some will read the context of what has been written in an entirely different way and be offended by it (of which I have suffered in the past few days). We aren’t here to censor opinion only the manner in which it is stated unless that opinion is, again against the house rules or common decency.
It’s down to each member to swallow a bit of pride sometimes or not insist on having the last word especially when a mod has stepped in to referee.
That is why we have the don’t be a dick rule on here. It should be a very simple code to follow for everyone to understand.

Ok, this has turned into more than a Matchday Thread and it's getting nasty. Lock it. Agreed but hopefully some lessons can be learned to stop this happening time after time by addressing deliberately inflammatory postings at the earliest opportunity?

I don’t want opinion censored and I don’t think anyone in their right mind would either - what would be the point in having a forum if that were the case. This whole thread (and recent others) have gone a bit pear shaped because of the manner of postings which to many will see as having gone un-moderated.

Thread locked.
Feel free to carry on arguing in PM.
I have not sought Mod approval for this.
Very sad to read this thread today.
For the record, I like RD, Bideford and GHB so it's disappointing to see the division JB and our water poor form continues to create.
