Given the chaos in the energy markets at the moment does anyone know if Utilita are at risk of folding? Depends whether you hang your shirts on a hanger, or put them in a chest of drawers....

Government are going to offer energy companies loans to tide them over Probably only the larger suppliers as I understand it. No idea where Utilita ranks

No idea where Utilita ranks I’m out of the game now but they’re probably one of the bigger suppliers. Would be surprised if they’re in top 7 though. Press is saying that they’re expecting number of suppliers to drop from 71 down to about ten.

if their linked to this club they will probably go under. You would have thought having their name on the shirts would have given our players a spark of energy and created some electricity on the pitch but they seem to have had the opposite effect. i haven't bought a shirt this year , do they glow in the dark ?.

The big six gas suppliers are EDF, British Gas, Eon, Npower, ScottishPower and SSE. Eon and Npower are kind of the same thing these days. They collectively make up about 70% of the market. A quick glance of Utilita’s Wikipedia page suggests they have a 2.6% market share. Having invested a lot of money in sponsorship of a lot of sporting events, arenas and clubs, I can imagine they’ll be worried.

I tried finding some figures the other day, but those details don’t really reflect changes in the marketplace. Yep Eon and nPower basically the same now. SSE is actually part of OVO these days. Whom had a sizeable amount of customers themselves. Octopus is huge and it wouldn’t surprise me to be bigger than one or maybe a few of the big six now. Then there’s Bulb who are now teetering on the edge themselves. Utilita seemed to focus on the PAYG markets. They get to charge a decent whack extra because of the nature of the prepayment markets. You’d be amazed how much an energy supplier doesn’t get to see. Dale Vince’s ecotricity pretty insignificant, with a very niche market.

I think some on this thread, myself included, have taken ‘gaschat’ a bit too literally.

Did that and they just call from different numbers If you speak to them, you should be able to instruct them to remove you from their marketing campaigns now and going forward. Whether they do or not is a different matter but we have the right not to be marketed, throw in the word Ofgem... that should do it.
