We don't seem to see many of these anymore.
There is a great picture of Geoff Bradford diving full length about 3 foot off the ground. I remember Archie getting some, but last one I can remember was Rickie Lambert v Barnet away in the FA cup, alough he was inches of the ground and more of a nudge over the line.
Personally I think it looks great. Remember Keith Houchen FA Cup final etc (sorry Mabs).

The best diving header I remember seeing (non-Rovers related) was Henrik Larsson for Sweden vs Bulgaria in Euro 2004. Hard to believe that was 17 years ago!

Ray Mabbutt specialty. Set piece designed by Bobby Campbell. Biggsy, Hamilton would run to the nearpost taking the defence with them, the free kick would overshoot, where Ray would run round for a diving header.

No idea why more players don’t risk a boot in the face to score ! 😂

Best diving header I remember was by Alan ‘ sniffer’ Clarke for Leeds against Arsenal in the 72 cup final, absolutely brilliant FA cup winning goal

Trevor Francis 1979 European cup goal, that was a pretty good one! Diving headers are great though!

Very quiet day on holiday so picking random old page numbers for a look at topics from the past.Loads of stadium, Barton, WYHHB type things but found this.
Still true, very few diving headers.

How about Keith Houchen in the 1987 Cup final against perennial bottlers, Spurs?
A cracker.
Edit: apologies to the original poster as he/she mentioned Keith and I just saw that.

Not sure who gets the credit for it as I remember it being called “The Tann Plan”after Bert Tann - or was that something else ?

Archie Stephens did a diving header on his debut on a frozen pitch. I knew then that we had a good un.
