I just returned to this forum and just wanted to say I don’t care because this competition is tainted due to youth teams being included and as I believe it’s a pretext for b teams in the league, and a general reflection of the ambitions of big clubs to dominate the league system, I think these games should be ignored. I believe in capitalism and all that but what is happening here is the big clubs are trying to get a hold of the lawmakers and control the government. It’s like pret trying to change the law so that small greasy spoon cafes can’t operate, essentially. Keep the big clubs from controlling the authorities and legal entities who control the football pyramid and boycott this shambles. ...er...I think that is capitalism.

When that oaf, Greg Dyke put the plan forward for Premier League B Teams in the league and they slipped into the EFL trophy in 2016, I joined plenty of others in boycotting these games.
The threat has diminished, but not disappeared, IMO.

I wonder if the super league would be a good thing. Let the big head clubs go off to watch their Harlem globetrotter nonsense and we can have our league back.
Other things I would implement:
- Maximum squad and academy sizes. You cant buy up the entire talent of a generation of footballers and then loan them out. The big difference to when I was young is that we used to develop players and sell them on. Now the big clubs buy players, loan them to us to develop and then either keep, or ask US for money for them.
- Maximum overseas players per squad. Yes, you actually have to develop British players. The product will get worse? I don’t care. I don’t care about how marketable the PL is.
