2pm kick off @ Worle rec (Weston-s-Mare)
More likely see a win here than at Oxford.
Just thought I’d put it out there to the locals.
Utgg.

I watched the game as my daughter plays for Weston Mendip.
Gas Girls are the best team they have played this season by a country mile. They should definitely see another promotion this season!

How many leagues would they have to get promotion from to be in the same level as BCFC women ? I think its 4, possibly 5. Nice set up at Lockleaze, grab a pint and stand on a bar terrace to watch the game

How many leagues would they have to get promotion from to be in the same level as BCFC women ? They are currently in the 6th tier of the football pyramid. South West Regional Women's Football League (Northern).
Only four divisions behind the old team.

How many leagues would they have to get promotion from to be in the same level as BCFC women ? It's not that many - 3 or 4 I think. Currently Portishead, Keynsham and Brislington are all closer to BCFC than the Gas Girls, and have more mature setups in place.

Gloucestershire County to SWWFL north isn't much different, lots of teams go straight through. Some big increases in quality from now on, hopefully they can overcome them.

Was chatting a while back to one of the guys involved with running the Gas Girls teams and he was saying that they have ambitions to progress and quite quickly but they also know roughly what level they can get to before they will need to have significantly more investment and income than they do now…. He was explaining that at the top level the women’s game is now getting similar to what it’s like with the professional men’s game with full time squads, lots of regulations and specific costs etc…. The Gas Girls get a lot of support from the club, the community trust and the supporters club but if they want to get to top division then that support would need to increase 10 fold and it would be similar to running the men’s team with costs and budgets etc…
Doable but no easy task….

The first incarnation of the Gas Girls were a top 6-9 side. I think they played in the FA cup semis twice. No match for the top 4 though as they had big budgets and top stars.
We had 3-4 really good local players Steph Curtis and the Welsh girl Trudy Williams?. I think Williams was regularly one of the top strikers.
Also they picked up local students like Helen Done. 5ft nothing but a Dave Pritchard type full back who did really well against some of the best female players of the day.
A few of that side probably should have had more national and even international recognition but we are little Bristol Rovers.
The Gas Girls did it before so every chance they could get to the female championship equivalent.
If they do move up the leagues would be interesting to see them play at at the Mem on a Sunday. Good opportunity for the club to increase turnover with family Sunday roasts, bar use etc.
