Was the last time I saw such fighting spirit.
This team are running through brick walls.
It’s about time you got behind them.
These kind of scores happen once every 10 years
Joey Barton’s barmy army

There are plenty of us on here and otherwise who have always Been behind this team. The anti Barton brigade and those staying away due to him are better off staying away. The atmosphere has been the best it’s been for years this season for that very reason. Everyone attending games are fully behind these lads regardless of who’s in charge and that’s what being a Gashead is all about. Long may it continue. This club will live long after the Barton era so let’s enjoy these players whilst they are here. We’re not perfect but by god don’t this squad half have some fight in them. Proud of them all tonight.

Don’t tell others to stay away for having a different opinion. We all want Rovers to succeed.

My point was we have many fans apparently staying away due to a manager yet the atmosphere is the best I’ve seen at the mem in years. Might be a coincidence but if it is related then please don’t bother coming back. These lads need all our support as they are fighting for the shirt like no has team since D.C.

I think it’s likely we were unable to attend for 18 months, coupled with actually winning which is also something we haven’t done for 18 months! People who stay away are hardly likely to affect the atmosphere in a noticeable way.

The point is that wanting the team to do well and supporting Barton aren't mutually exclusive. Like it or not JB is part of the team at BRFC. I want success in every aspect, if and I know it's a big if, we have a d cent cup run and get promoted then he'll be one of our most successful mangers in recent times.
Given the rebuild he's had to do and the off field issues it could be even more remarkable

Who are you to question my opinion. The stay away fans don’t like it when you question why they would depart a club they supposedly love so much due to who’s in charge. In my opinion it’s pathetic. I’m entitled to that opinion. Don’t like it don’t read it.

The reasons some aren't attending are perfectly legit and understandable given the charges hanging over JB.

Why do you keep telling people to respect your opinion but then in the same breath tell people with a different opinion to you that they shouldn't come to matches? Nobody is "Barton out" because they don't love the club, if anything they're Barton out precisely because they love the club. Gasheads arguing amongst themselves over this doesn't help anything.

I thought Saturday's come-back-from-behind victory was brilliant but Tuesday night...!! Speechless. To misquote Brian Clough, "I wouldn't say this was the best Rovers game I've ever seen - but it's up there in the top one!" Come On You Blues and Up The Gas!

I am one of those who has chosen to stay away from the Men as long as Barton is at the helm. That does not mean I don't support the team. I see the possible beginnings of a solid team and I think that's great because taking my feelings about Barton to one side, I will support this club until I curl up my toes. And I go back to the heady days of Eastville then Twerton with all those wonderful memories of great players who would go out and did for the shirt..Long may this club progress and like many who will not be there in Saturday, I will be willing them on for another win.

Do we have to always do this? Irrespective of anyone’s position on Barton we are all fans of Bristol Rovers the club. No one fans opinion is more important or relevant than another’s and those fans not attending due to Barton being in charge is entirely their choice and they are entitled to do so - doesn’t make them any less of a fan of the club and who knows, they could be supporting the club in other ways.
For those attending games, again it’s a choice and doesn’t make them any more of a fan.
FWIW I am neither pro or anti Barton. I see him just as the manager of the team and after a really sticky and poor start to his tenure, we finally seem to have started to turn a corner and performances and results are certainly on the up.
I agree the atmosphere at the Mem has been much better recently and that’s due to a whole host of reasons and the team is gelling now as I expected it to following such a big turnover in the summer.
The private stuff with Joey is for the courts to decide - IF found guilty then the club should act and terminate his contract because of the nature and seriousness of what will have been proven to have been done. IF found innocent then there is no case to answer and he should be treated as so with the saying that the past is the past and should be left there. You can’t change the past only the future and JB should be measured on his performance as manager only when it comes to BRFC.
What I do find tiresome is the constant sniping and talking about Barton the person rather than Barton the manager or BRFC the club / performances on most threads from both Barton supporters and detractors…
Both sides are unlikely to change views on Barton the person but surely we can all get along and behind the team and the club and debating those aspects so this forum doesn’t descend into the divisive and tit for tat bickering it was a few months back…

You're in the Autumn of your life fella - why let one person prevent you from enjoying what you have left? Personally I'm ambivalent to JB's personal life and whatever I think of JB will not influence me, or prevent me from doing what I want to do with the rest of my life. Like yourself I feel we are showing "the possible beginnings of a solid team" - and hopefully the regeneration of the Club as a whole - let’s enjoy the ride whilst we are able.

Bristol Rovers as a club is what it's all about. Players, supporters, fans, managers etc are transient. The whole thing is about what pleasure, despair, delight the club gives us. Rovers have been in existence for 140 years now, way beyond any of us. It's so good to see us hopefully turning our fortunes around and on a rise. 50-odd years of following Rovers through bloody awful times and brilliant resurgents. I love this club and always will.

I respect your opinion, but if Barton was a member of your family, you may not be happy with him but doubtful you would turn your back on your family so why turn your back on your football club?
