At the end of the month www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/breaking-bristol-rovers-announce-departure-6218611Bristol Rovers have announced the imminent exit of CEO Martyn Starnes Bristol Rovers CEO Martyn Starnes is to leave the club at the end of the month, the Gas announced on Wednesday. Starnes has resigned his post on the board of directors and his final day at the Mem is November 30. “For personal reasons, I feel it is the right time for me to move on but I’d like to sincerely thank Wael Al-Qadi for the opportunity to work for a genuine family and community-based club to which he has made and continues to make an extraordinary commitment," Starnes said in a statement on the club's website. "I’ve enjoyed an excellent relationship with him and wish him every success. "The last two seasons have been extremely challenging given the unprecedented circumstances created by the pandemic and the unexpected and hugely disappointing relegation from League One last season. "I hope the club can bounce back quickly and continue pursuing the objective of Championship football. UTG.”

Interesting news. Can't imagine many fans will be too upset by this. More important, is what next? Wael is a great man and a true supporter, but the last 18 months has shown he needs support and guidance from the board that MS appears to not have been able successfully manage. Onwards and hopefully upwards UTG

Well well well.
Can’t tell if this is good news or not. Good form aside, it can’t be a good thing for Joey to have too much control of the club.
There has been many murmurings on the terraces and the other forum that Joey et al have invested and have grabbed themselves a place at the table and that’s why he hasn’t moved on. As mad as this might be - if it were to be true it would be worrying.
Are those personal reasons that he can’t work with Joey? And he doesn’t see him going anywhere?

Haha love this forum This news is either a) the Joey mafia take over or b) impending massive new stadium news linked.
Fear it may just be c) dull board room switch. hopefully with some positive impact and a more visible CEO!

You heard it here first.

It’s not going to be JB or his entourage and whilst I could see something linked to the stadium being the case - investors are more likely to just become directors rather than CEO… also stadium news is a long long way off in my mind…

Cynicism aside, certainly would make sense and fits.

"Bristol Live understands there has been a degree of tension building between Starnes and Joey Barton and his management team since the summer transfer window."
