Looking ahead to the weekend, its hard not top be positive given the recent results.
Tranmere look to be on the slide from their early good form, they don't concede many but don't score either. Despite the number of games (and extra time) I think we have this and if we win we'll go up at least one spot in the league!
I see they have some pedigree to be wary of though, Jay Spearing and Callum McManaman are top players in L2 but I also see Tom Davies sat on the bench for last weeks game with Sutton - anyone know why, guessing he was nursing one of his famous injuries?

Always worry when we've had a huge mid week game with extra time too, but with quite a few (midfield at least) to pick from and a number not playing more than 30 minutes, we should be well up for this and on a roll!

Used to have a good relationship with Tranmere, remember them being very sporting when we won a vital game up there on a Friday night during Twerton days and we repaid compliment by sportingly applauding there Leyland daf win at Wembley against us, like us, did well to regain league place quickly after falling into national league, hope we can finish off a good week in style with 3 points, none of this 'after the lord mayors show 'stuff Rovers ! turn a great week into a Brilliant one, a lot to ask but we can do it!

Who starts the match will be the question. So many choices in every position apart from belshaw. May be the case who turns up first in the morning gets the nod to begin.

I'd be surprised if it wasnt the same starting team as Northampton (injuries allowing) but not sure if Alfie was just rested or more? For sure Jones, Spence and Anderton have played themselves into starting contention tho

I thought Anderton was pretty much in the team anyway? Anderton is the wing back not the really tall CB right? Anderson - Winger Anderton - Left (wing) back Hmm. I see this formation differently. We play a back three of which Anderton is one. I term these as 3 centre backs. Anderton is a big tall guy who plays this role and doesn’t look like a wing back. He’s one of a back 3. We play broadly 5 in midfield - 3 in the middle and 2 wing backs who go forward and also protect the flanks. This is where I see AnderSON playing. I don’t see this position as a winger - wingers are in 442. Grant has been playing this role on the other side . I’m willing to be corrected here as I had this converse in with someone else but I don’t think Anderton is a wing back, he’s a left back or more like a left centre back

Who starts the Matchday thread is also an important question. Is it league or cup winner who stays on, and do either of them have a purple coat? 🤔

It's probably going to be quite a tight game and hopefully won't be a case of after the lord mayor's show.
Tranmere have the best defensive record in L1 or L2, just 11 goals conceded in 16 games.
However, they are also the joint lowest scorers in L2.
Their recent form is nothing special but they have only lost 1 of their last 6 away games in all competitions, winning 3.
Crawley 0-1 Tranmere (FA Cup) Mansfield 2-0 Tranmere Harrogate 2-2 Tranmere Carlisle 0-1 Tranmere Salford City 0-2 Tranmere (EFL Trophy) Forest Green 0-0 Tranmere
3 Wins, 2 Draws and 1 Loss from their last 6 away games is a very good return.
They've also had a free week to prepare while we were invlovled in a gruelling 120 minute cup tie with Oxford.
I'm still hopeful we'll be able to continue our recent improvement and bag another 3 points but I'm expecting a tight game.
