I think Barton does matter. Most of these players were signed by him and I can see a shed load of P?!sed off footballers if he is shown the door. There appears to be a lot of camaraderie between this group of players AND the manager. We all witnessed what happened when Tisdale came in post Garner. IMO I don't see JB going anywhere irrespective of what happens in either court, I feel that the Stendel court case outcome is not even in the equation as to whether he keeps his job or not. The only two people who witnessed the alleged assault on his wife are refusing to testify and his wife is also refusing to testify in court against him. This is being heard in a magistrates court (no jury) - I can only see it being thrown out through a lack of solid evidence. Hope you are right Blueridge 💙Utg🤞🤞🤞

Barton's domestic abuse case is going ahead on 16th Dec. Hopefully he will be gone after that and maybe have someone already at the club to take over. The players are/should be good enough...just need to get rid of this manager! You don't think our upturn in form, results, are anything to do with him?

It doesn't matter if Barton is here or not, same group of players, not a bad period with form etc for a new gaffer to take over and plenty out of work who could get the same minimum and hopefully better out of this squad. Really don't think Barton matters, it's not him crossing the white line Totally agree , we have some quality players at this club now, that is thanks partly to JB, but any decent manager should have us in contention at the top of this division with the squad we have.

If so, how do you explain how Ben Garner took the same players from 4th place to nearly being relegated before Covid saved the day? Provided JB gets not guilty verdicts in both cases, it's time to stop al this sniping at him - he hasn't put a foot wrong with Rovers yet. How can you say he hasn't put a foot wrong yet, when he promised to keep us up and we were relegated. If he kept his promise we wouldn't be in this sh*t division.

This feels like a monumental period in our history. If Joey does get cleared of the charges then we have real momentum to move forward. Let’s not kid ourselves. We’re in a P?!s poor league, and ability wise the top 7 should be more than achievable. I was 100% pro Joey and the appointment; yet I’ll be man enough to say that after Newport I wanted him gone. I was wrong. Wael kept faith and most importantly the changing room kept faith. Huge kudos to wael, let’s just pray the decision goes in JB’s favour and we can move this club forward. UTG Not wishing to rain on your parade but a couple of decent results and a first round cup win is hardly a new beginning at best its a blip at the moment. Apart from that nothing has changed so the thread title is totally misleading. It isn't just about the results though, it's the way the team played to achieve them which is very encouraging for the future.

And they're actually starting to hammer out results, starting to put performances together, even with injuries, the crowd is getting behind them now because the fight and hard work is back. But hey, get rid of him so someone else can come in and ruin it right?

I think a large part of the squad are out of contract at the end of the season (some brought in on one year deals and some existing on 2 or 3 years coming to an end) But that is by design as if we achieve what we have been promised this squad would not compete in league 1 (yes I know we just beat Oxford) and we would need at upgrade next season anyway

Don’t agree with you at all, remember the great side we had under Gerry Francis, when he left & Martin Dobson took over the same group of players were a shadow of their former selves. Any new manager coming in would have their own ideas on styles, systems of play & personal etc & that can be unsettling period for any team. Honestly believe if Barton is acquitted we have a decent chance of achieving something this season, but if it goes the other way the positive momentum that’s beginning to happen could easily evaporate.

Didn't we lose Ollie, Big Dev and Bailey to QPR though when Gerry left?

Whoa! This thread will have absolutely no creditability until the title is changed to “A new beginning begins”.

Also if we'd lost 2 in the league and were out of the cup, the doom and gloomers would feel justified in calling for the manager's head.

I’ll get ready for some stick after this , We have been awful so far , bar the last couple of game which i have been over the moon with and it really did remind me of the Rovers of old , BUT , I will reserve judgement until the end of the season as prior to the great results we’ve just had , The football on display has been the worst I’ve seen , still have lots of mistakes in us especially at the back and we’re playing without a recognised striker even though this has been an issue for the past couple of seasons. Let us not also forget the pathetic and frankly embarrassing pre and post match interviews from JB spouting jibberish at any given opportunity. Don’t get me wrong I’m still buzzing from the last few results and i pray that we really have turned a corner but under this manager and with this team we have already had a fair few false new dawns and I certainly think it’s way to early to even be thinking that this is a ‘new beginning’ I just hope the lads keep plugging away and getting the results necessary to get us higher up the league and in with a chance of getting out of this division. Fingers and toes and eyes crossed , UTG
