How about some UB40 linked tunes! As James Brown is their drummer! Do you think he will be drinking Red Red wine if he signs for us ?

We already sing Pigbags "do do do-do do Bristol Rovers" based on the original Papas got a brand new bag by James Brown, so this must be a done deal.
Any more players we can sign based on songs we sing ?

He will have stiff competition for a place at Blackburn, whereas here you would think he gets to play every week. I know which one id choose though and that aint us!

Quite a few good players over there out of contract at the end of December that would improve us. One I'd offer a contract to is the 6ft 2in striker Georgie Kelly, although sure will have competition for him too.

Move on….
Tony Mowbray also confirmed that Irish full back James Brown, previously with Drogheda, will be signing a deal with #Rovers after a three-day trial. Will be one for the U23s initially. Expect a senior right back to be on the January wishlist.

Expect a senior right back to be on the January wishlist. Fair play to him, great move for him from the LOI. However, this sort of move does irk me, although it's probably more green eyed monster on my part. I just feel that the eye boggling wage bills in the Championship force those clubs with less clout, such as Blackburn, Preston, Millwall etc, to have to shop in places where the lower league clubs would normally go. The likes of the Gas are surely finding it harder and harder to sign players with potential from anywhere other than the top division academies, normally on loan, which again serves to profit those clubs top division clubs. It reminds me of the fishing industry, with increasing scarcity, the nets are drawn wider and wider for longer and longer. It's not sustainable, and the lower league clubs will keep being hit harder.

That move shows no ambition at all from him.
u23 team over 1st team action all be in a lower league. As another poster mentioned we just can’t compete with the wages on offer no doubt.
As more and more clubs have to report there annual loses I’m hoping the majority of them are on the same level as City as football just can’t sustain this ridiculous level of spending.

We could try and get him on loan if we wanted him. Better playing competitive league footy than U23s?

They could have the best coaches and training facilities in the world, it’s no good when your playing for the reserves and most likely to be loaned out come next season. 1st team football was on offer where if he really wanted to climb the leagues he had a better chance of putting himself in the shop window. No doubt in my mind we’ll look back on this thread in year to come and he’ll either be loaned out somewhere or still hanging around in the reserves collecting a tidy pay cheque

All the bells & whistles for facilities/coaches but at the end of the day the most competitive football he’ll likely take part in the next 12-18 months will be the Pizza trophy.

He looks too much like a younger Joey Barton for many of our fans to stomach

Lockyer and Harrison are the only two I can think of in recent times. Liam Scales at Celtic seems to have made the right choice by moving to a big club, as he's already made 9 first team appearances. (Whoever put a stop to Scales signing, TW?, made a poor decision).
