They could have the best coaches and training facilities in the world, it’s no good when your playing for the reserves and most likely to be loaned out come next season. 1st team football was on offer where if he really wanted to climb the leagues he had a better chance of putting himself in the shop window. No doubt in my mind we’ll look back on this thread in year to come and he’ll either be loaned out somewhere or still hanging around in the reserves collecting a tidy pay cheque How many Rovers signings make it to the Championship by climbing the ladder? Lockyer and Harrison are the only two I can think of in recent times. Liam Scales at Celtic seems to have made the right choice by moving to a big club, as he's already made 9 first team appearances. (Whoever put a stop to Scales signing, TW?, made a poor decision). A certain M Taylor too, but of course only one champ club ‘wanted’ him!

A certain M Taylor too, but of course only one champ club ‘wanted’ him! billy bodin of course. This has got me thinking - how many managers have done well and left us for better things? My knowledge of managers pre- Gerry Francis is a bit hazy so he is the only one I can think of. DC would have been another had he taken the Leeds job. Apart from that, can’t think of any others in recent times.

I was thinking more of Rovers youngsters eventually making the step up, anyway 3 strikers and 1 defender making the move to the Championship suggests Brown's, as a defender, was right to avoid joining us/another lower league club.

But then took them back down the following season!
