Great win but I thought the ref made some shocking decisions, especially when mcchrystal was out of it on floor, what was he thinking not letting kitey on to assess his injury, bad decision as it could've been serious. He just angered the crowd even more after with bad decisions. UTG

I also thought their keeper should have been sent off . He charged out of his area and handled the ball and whilst the ref allowed advantage -from which we scored - it didnt alter the fact that t was a red card offence - or did anyone see it differently ?

I think his name is Brett Huxtable - We've had him a few times recently.
He is a total and utter plonker, he used to fourth official alot for us when we were in the league.
Proper jobsworth and total waste of time, he seriously needs looking at.

I thought their player clattering into our player (MM?) near the half way line just before MM was carried off would have been given as a foul 99/100. Still the commentators thought the free kick from which Mansell scored shouldn't have been given.
I'm not sure about the keeper being red carded, philistine. Most refs would maybe have booked him. As we scored the heat was taken off the ref. Yes they've have been down to 10 men for the rest of the game which would have been a huge advantage. But from memory there were defenders back there so I'm not sure the ref would have sent him off. I realise it was a red card offence but depends on how the ref sees it.
* I've just watched the goal again. The keeper would have been the last player so he could have been sent off. But did the ball bounce off his chest?\ watching it on a small picture I'm inclined to say chest.

Possibly the worst ref this season and that is saying something!

I had a very good view of the McCrystal incident from where I was sat and it looked a clear foul to me. I was a lot further away from the Mansell free kick incident but to be honest it didn't look much like a foul

Well that ref wouldn't have seen much, he didn't really keep up with play, is it just me or was he struggling with the game, physically and also mentally. I do know we've had him recently and he wasn't good then either, come to think of it, we've probably only had one decent ref this season at the mem.

When McChrystal first went down, Mansell and another player (maybe Parkes) shouted and gestured at Phil Kite not to come on. As we had a corner to defend, we needed McChrystal if it wasn't serious. Obviously the ref would have let him on, just as soon as he comes on, the player has to go off. A similar thing happened when a Gateshead player went down and one of the other players tried to push their physio back off the pitch.
That's not to say I agreed with his other decisions (I thought McChrystal had been fouled just before that incident), but you can't blame him for this.

We've had him at least 3 times this season and every time he won't give any fouls.
He struggles to keep up with play.
At least he is consistent though.

MM got clattered on the half way line seconds before he was carried off. Clearly a free kick. Then the free kick we scored from, the commentators were saying definitely wasn't. Even DC after the game wouldn't really answer the question when asked if he thought it was a free kick.

I was in the South stand and the free kick goal was a foul. I was surprised he gave it because he let a lot more serious incidents pass without sanction. That's the way it is in this league I'm afraid and we just have to accept it. These things tend to even themselves out over the course of a season..

Can you send someone off for attempting to deny a goal scoring chance if the forwards go on and score anyway? I honestly don't know, but it would seem harsh. If a defender handled on the line, but it went in anyway, for example...

Ive watched it several times and it seemed to me that the defender definitely clipped Monkhouse's ankle and it amazes me that commentators say "no foul" and then show replays that clearly shows that the defender went in without control and caught his ankle but they just ignore it. Anyway who cares. You can analyse and analyse but at the end of the day what happens, happens and both sides have to get on with the decisions given. Both free kicks given to Gateshead in the last few minutes looked dodgy with both players giving and taking yet it goes against the defender.

Virgo clearly still has a gudge to bear as to say a non league goalie was at fault for OC's goal was nonsense, as was his comments re the Monks foul.
I thought was this league the ref was no worse than any other, after all there are in the 5th tier for a reason!
