Agree with much of what you say Doha. However; The Finley red card, I caught a glimpse of it and it looked to me like Conlon stamped Finley’s foot and then Finley reacted (wrongly IMO) but Conlon went down like he was hit with a brick. They both should have been booked. Conlon for the stamp and play acting and Finley for retaliation. The Lino didn’t see all of the incident I don’t think and only reported Finley. The free kick for the first goal was never a free kick to you in a million years. I was sat almost in line with it aerially and if anything, it should have been a free kick to us as Anderson was literally pulled down by your player. As for the second Red with Harries, he’s actually looking at the ball the whole time it is airborne with the intention to volley it away and Garrity has run into the kick that Harries made for the ball after steaming in from midfield. There was absolutely no intention there or awareness that he was coming in. The ref made a total cats arse of that and didn’t see it for what it really was. That said, I don’t know why Harries didn’t go and jump to head it himself, perhaps he thought he had time to volley it away. But that was an utterly pathetic decision. I agree with you on the pen. It was a dive, however your defender got very lucky as he clattered Clarke and had he gone down more organically it would have been a pen. We got nothing from that ref all evening, all of the 50/50s went your way, one time the Lino only flagged for offside when the crowd shouted at him and I believe it was Conlon who was about 5 years off! I can certainly see why you are at the sharp end. Garrity and Conlon are the players you need in this league and I thought you were the best team I’ve seen at the Mem this year. Politic was a handful too. It really is a shame the ref made it all about himself and ruined what look like being a quality game of football. It was a open and entertaining first 10 mins. Fair enough, didn't see the stamp but it might have been caught on one of the other camera angles/gopro goal cams, we'll find out what really happened later today maybe. In terms of the second red I'm not sure what choice the ref had really, as the rules are written and all that. He did bring him down as the last man when he was in to score, reckless high boot or not. Yeah I'd agree with that on the pen, he made far too much of it, playing on the crowd hostility to the ref who in fairness was strong enough to resist it. Good game for the neutral! Shame we couldn't really show you who we are with our catastrophic injury woes but the return game isn't until Easter Monday so by then we should both have full strength sides to play out a proper game. From what I've heard from those that had a decent view of the Finley red card it sounds like it should have been either 2 reds or more likely, 2 yellows. I'm not sure how the Vale player ended up 10+ yards away from where the incident took place and it's a shame neither official seemed to spot the stamp.
The free kick given for the opening goal was a clear and obvious mistake. Nothing more to say on that.
Looked a reasonable shout for a penalty on Clarke having got goal side of the defender but there was only minimal contact and he did make a meal of it. I've seen plenty of those given though.
The Harreis sending off was probably the right call. Why he didn't go to head it clear I'll never know. Debatable whether the Vale player would have got to the ball before the keeper but I can understand the decision in this case.
Considering (including injury time) we played 65 minutes with 10 men and the last 18 minutes with 9 men I think we did pretty well. Looked like we might nick a point until the second red.

Merry Xmas Finley and Harries. Both will now not play until 29th Dec and 1st Jan respectfully. Coincidence I think though.

Plenty of talking points last night.
Sadly, our team discipline is appalling. We can expect nothing when we are playing a top team in the league with one man short after 15 minutes and another sent off in the second half. Apparently, we have lost 7 men this season and that puts us way out in front of dismissals in the entire football league. We are not good enough to compensate for these dismissals.
Last night most of the 50/50 decisions went against us. I can't comment on Finlay's dismissal other than to wonder why a player of his experience got involved.
Harries deserved to go. His second yellow card was a result of his poor decision making. He should have attacked the ball and dealt with the threat. Most competent L2 defenders would have had no problem with that ball. But there again Harries is not competent. He has a potentially disastrous mistake in him every game. Sometimes he gets away with it. Last night he didn't.

Just watching the highlights it looks to me like they set out to get finley sent off, vale players congratulating one another when the card comes out, really hate professional players acting and conning the ref, sadly crept into the game over the last twenty years. really poor that, well hopefully the decision will get overturned, thought I read somewhere that we are going to appeal

In was a straight red! Also Taylor makes a bad mistake every game but has been lucky someone bailed him out, sometimes Harries! Las night he gifted the ball to someone just inside the area with goal virtually at his mercy, very bad miss. Now I'm not slagging Taylor off but think people should play fair when complaining about mistakes made. Bet Grant is happy, means he's not been moaned about at he moment!

Logged off the forum at P15, so just catching up. Like lots of games this season - some postives and great players making the number of defeats and draws all the more galling. Yes we have had injuries and bad refs, but incomplete recruitment and lack of professionalism is costing us again and again.
Should JB still be here to rectify it in Jan? We have to win both the next games, or he has to go. If he stays, 3 or 4 players in (plus get some dead wood off the pay roll) and we can still have a good season.
There is a lot to like in this team, not least the passion and refusal to give up that we definitely didnt have last year. Finley, Evans, Taylor, Anderson, Whelan, Saunders and Collins give me hope. But, if we are still down in the depths come January, we could easily lose Nicholson and Evans and then we are really struggling.
Hopefully Finley didnt do anything and we can get the red overturned (unlikely) as for harries, maybe a blessing. Move Anderton to CB and play Clarke at LB and go 4-3-3 for the next two games.
Roll on Saturday, We go again. Never dull.

He made some brilliant runs off the ball and look quick however as soon as he got the ball he either miscontrolled it did a wayward cross or fell over. I’m being harsh as he must be rusty as hell the season he’s had. I’m Hoping there’s a player in there as he certainly made brilliant runs and created danger down That left hand side which we’ve been missing this season.

I thought Byron Anthony was brought in a few weeks ago as defense coach. He’s an academy coach Or an American football coach?

First rule we got taught at football training as kids who were defenders was never let the ball bounce! Harries is too casual. That's fine if you are any good.... but he isn't. He should have positioned himself between their onrushing guy and the ball at least. Same guy was unmarked for the first goal. Do we actually have a defensive coach? He wasn't really unmarked, Taylor was just caught ball watching, perhaps it was down to his inexperience.
